ff7,8,9 on PS2

I've heard a rumor Squaresoft was going 2 remake them on PS2, is that true?

They were announced ages ago, but are now on 'indefinite hold' according to Square... which bascially translates to 'We've changed our mind'...

So the answer is No...

I dunno about a strict "No", but they aren't actually work in progress yet. Squaresoft have plenty of other games to be developing right now, without remaking games that EVERYONE (well nearly everyone) has. (Including, supporting FFXI and Playonline, FFXII, FFI and FFII on the PSOne, FFIII on the WSC, The GBA version of FF Tactics, the new GBA FF and its accompanying Gamecube title - which is nearly 88.8% confirmed)

... Though I reckon they'll remake FF7 to 9 sometime... just not even within the year...

Edit: and theres a Final Fantasy Forum for this kind of thing...

what a shame, i was at least looking forward to 7 and 8.

i hope that if they do rerelease them for ps2 that they change the graphics only. the stories were perfect....

Not to mention a new Chocobo game (GBA) and the remake of Secret of Mana (also GBA).

Well, a jackass friend of mine actually spoiled me that specific part of the game, and it really pissed me off. no one's gonna die but it really sucks, and probably you don't want it to be done to you. Besides, it's some kind of policy in this forum to mark spoilers. If you did not know now you know.

Back in topic, that's still one of the dreams I have.... I don't care much about FF8 or 9 (although being able to see FF9 not in that chibi-style would be fantastic) I'd really, really love to see FF7 with both gameplay and graphics of FFX That would be so awsome! Being able to hear Cloud's, Tifa, and Sephiroth voices!!!!!

I don't know why the guys from Squaresoft wouldn't do it. I'm certain that a lot of ppl would buy such remakes if they ever made them. Well, that's what I think. At least I'm sure I'd buy them if the equalled FFX in the aspects I mentioned. If they were to be just something like FF Chronicles then forget it. (N E ways you can play PS gameso n PS 2 so what would that be of use for....)

well lets face it: its inevitable. All the SNES and NES FFs were remade at least once. Even FF Tactics is getting a "remake" (though strong rumors now exist that its grown from the simple "more scenarios" remake, into an effectual FF Tactics II - which would be nice indeed...) The popularity of these titles (argueably, far more have played the PSOne FFs than the others) mean that a mistake would be hard to make. It'll happen one day. You can bet that some work is probably going on as we speak...

As previously mentioned, Square is a very very busy company. Whilst simulataneously making FFXI, FFXII, Unlimited SaGa, The FFX spinoffs (all PS2) FF-Crystal Chronicle (GC) FF-Crystal Chronicle, FFIII remake, FFTactics Advance, Seiken Densetsu I (aka. FF : Adventure) and a new chocobo game (all GBA) They probably don't have it very high on their priority list: though they go on record saying that there will be remakes, and they haven't been canceled.

FF7 remake is scheduled for a December (of this year) release in Japan. Not sure about the others.
