Dodgy downloads

Have any of you guys ever had a really messed up download? Happens to me all the time. I get things that are meant to be complete programs opening as computer language in notepad. Its really frastrating.

can't say i've ever had one of them... perhaps they:
1. are supposed to be text-documents (.txt), and require you to change the file extension (people on places like Geocities do that to mp3s or pictures due to their rules)
2. are confused because you don't have the right program to open them, or because your file-associations are pooped.

You're lucky you can even D/L. Every time I try, my PC locks up on me, and I have to restart it.
