He is definately Big Boss.
For one thing, there is no way Solid Snake could have been much more than a toddler during the events of MGS 3.

(One of) The theme(s) of MGS 3, according to the trailer and Kojima himself in his interview with gamespy, is to make clear the mistakes of the past to better enlighten the future. When asked as to the identity of the main character, he wisely declined to comment.
As Snake says in MGS 2, ''We have all the magic of the digital age to do that with''. If only we knew what he meant at the time!
Liquid makes a referance to Big Boss's timeline in MGS 1, ''When he was young during the Cold War, the world needed men like us.''

Of all the Snakes, Big Boss is the only one old enough, evil enough, and (on a hunch) skilled enough to star in MGS 3. Really, it's pretty much a no brainer.

Makes me wish I hadnt watched the damn trailer.....
