custom avatar help

i found this awesome killzone pic and i want to make it my avatar. how do i do it?

Well, it needs to be within the limits of 64x64(And 8 KB).

Then go to your User CP -----> Edit Avatar and either upload it from your computer or from someone who's hosting it.

all right, the picture isn't more than 64x64, but how do you upload a pic. I know where to find it at, just tell me what format to put it in or whatever.
ps: sorry if i sound like an illiterate idiot when it comes to sigs and avatars

Don't worry about it, I had a lot of questions about it too.

Now, I think you should save the picture as a .jpg.

Hopefully the picture size will be less than 8 KB.

Both .gif or .jpg formats are ok for your avatar.

Jesus, the picture is too big. Is there a way to make it smaller or do i have to find it in a different site (all the pics on the site im lookin at are the same size).

It's simple just save the pic in your hard drive, resize it and then do what Nelo said, go to your User Cp and upload it.

Yes, MSPaint or Photoshop is good for the job.

Though I wonder, how big is the picture?

I know i may sound comp illiterate to u pepes but can someone be kinda specific, like saying exactly how i resize it, cause i know what to do after that.

Well first you go to MSPaint.

Then you go to File ----> Open and get the picture you want to resize.

After that you click on the picture and see those dots at ends of your picture? Put your mouse pointer there and it should change to arrows going up and down diagonally.

You can either make the picture larger or smaller then.

When you're finished, save it.

In the future, you should check how much KB and how many pixels the picture has by right clicking the picture and going to Properties.

when i try to resize it in paint, it just cuts off part of the pic instead of making it smaller as a whole. i have it saved as a jpeg file so does that have something to do with it?

No, saving it as a .jpg is actually a good move.

As for the other part of your problem, how big is that picture in KB?

Maybe you're doing it the wrong way..open the file with paint..right click on it..and then there should be an option there to resize it..it's not hard..it really isn't

Whenever i right click on the pic in MS Picture Editer, the option to cut, copy, and properties comes up...thats it. Jesus this is frustrating.
