FFXI - Completley Online?

OK I heard that FF11 is going to be a completley online game realeased at the same time as the hard drive for the PS2? are these rumours true or not?

Yes, it is true. The new issue of OPM says that FFXI and the HD will be released 1st quarter 2004. And yes, it is an entirely online game as far as I know.

Yup entirely online. The HD ships with the game too.

there is a PC version of the game coming out in quarter 4 2003 as well (October to December) in the US. No European / Australasian release for the PS2 has been announced, hence the lack of a PS2 HDD announcement. The PC version should logically be released around about the time of the US version... but Square-Europe have never particuarly worked with logic.

importing won't be impossible (there are already Europeans playing the Japanese version of the game) and the PC version will be out much sooner than the PS2 version, and with far better graphics. I'm getting the PC version regardless, but you should consider getting it. It may be your only chance.

I'm thinkin' I'll get the PC version because I think it would be easier getting started and maybe cost less money, but right now I don't have the kind of money to be paying to play it online.

Does anybody know what size the HDD will be? 20 gig, 30 gig, 80 gig?

I believe its 40gb, but thats from the depths of my mind - the Hard Drive isn't discussed much by Sony... they prefer not to adknowledge its existence in case people actually get interested ^_^

(all I know for certain is its bigger than the XBox one... and probably not as big as the PC standard.) Oh, I believe the install for FFXI was about 3-5GBs for the PS2 as well - it required you to copy all files over.
