Just want to hear your opinion: is it right to censor anything, in music, movies, videogames and so on, is it good that an organization, a distributor or whatever is doing it for the "audience's sake", for preventing people to learn or get used to, for example, violence, or everyone should be free to decide? Do you think censorship in some cases is necessary or does it only ruin the product, being this product artistic or not? Is the censorship we have at this moment enough or is it the evidence censoring is not a solution to save categories that are more influenced or at risk (like for exaple children)?

And more personal question: do you like when you buy a game or you go to see a movie and you know from the beginning some parts of it have been censored?

well I believe my bumper sticker on my car says it best..."fuck Censorship"... I am a firm believer in the abolition of censorship... Censoring things is only a way of giving a parents not to monitor their kids themselves... Angry housewives got against music people cause they couldnt monitor any of the stuff going on in their houses...
But thats all besides the point... I believe that yes censorship is "neccesary" in some instances.. but should be user defined... I dont like the idea of someone else deciding what i can and cant hear... in this world today we've become so worried about what people think that we cant do anything anymore... some land of the free this is eh?
Oh and when i know that there is a cut version or a "revised" version.. it always pisses me off.. ie: House of 1000 corpses.. that movie took forever to come out and was cut up really bad.... Another instance...i was going to Ozzfest and as most of you know i am a huge Marilyn Manson fan... well the venue decided that they didnt want him here because of what he had to say in his music...
Free speach isn't a selective freedom... Just because you dont like it doesnt mean that its wrong... I dont like *nsync but they arent censored to comfort me are they?? Well i think i have expressed my views... if anyone wants to discuss i am always up for this subject

To me, censorship is something that doesn't even belong in this country we call home. The freedom to say and do what you want is one of the things this country was founded on. Even if some poeple may find a tv show, song lyrics or a picture offensive, it is still a person's God given right to put these things out there.

As far as the reasoning behind censorship, I believe that it's a person's responsibility to make sure they aren't, themselves, exposed to anything they find offensive, i.e. it's a parent's responsiblity to keep their child from seeing something in a movie or on tv they don't need to be exposed to.

It's unfair and unconstitutional for people to expect the government to enforce bans or to censor some things that a few people find offensive.

I find censorship hypocrtitical. Shows that have censorship mosaics or whatever are pointless. If they don't want a kid to see some fat slut's tits in a Jerry Springer show, they should not air the damned show at all, except on an adult show time. The kid who is watching Jerry Springer at 2:00 PM is still able to see how she is behaving like a slut, how she curses, how she french kisses her mother, etc.

When it comes to music, it is the most pathetic thing I could ever see. If a parent does not want his 10 year old hear a few curses on a song, then the parent should not allow the kid to listen to this kind of music until he/she grows a little older, and whatever.

Even worse when animes are edited. That can really piss me off. Play the damned shows for the audiences that they were intended for, stupid jackasses!!!

I don't like the whole idea behind censorship, especially because most of the times censorship becomes a weapon in the hand of bigots who just use their power in a completely wrong and anti-liberal way.

If you ask me what happens when I have to watch a movie or play a game or listen to an album, knowing there are censored parts in them, I must admit I'm more than bothered.

the sadest thing is if we had parents out there that would actually raise their kids themself instead of letting everyone else do it for them censorship would not exsist. But since parents do not watch their kids and make sure that they are watching/playing/listining the right age appropriate things everyone else has to do it for them. My parents never let me watch much violence unitl I got to 7th grade then they began to slowly expose me to things teenage appropriate after 9th grade they completely let me go in my own direction with the exception of things like drugs and so forth they would still beat the living tar outta me if i did any type of drug except caffine . The truth is that if more parents payed more attention to their kids and started getting more envolved in what they are exposed to from day to day there would be no use for censorship.
