I know this is a little old but the Roby Weapon of FF7 is the only thing holding me from 100% completion of the game. Ive worked several stradegies but none of them seem to work. A little help please?

It can get frozen by the Hades summon, which is immensely useful. As I understand it, it's best to fight it when it's claws dip into the sand and attack you from behind. I actually wrote an FAQ that i've found on an old DVD-R to remind me how I defeated ruby. I goes a little something like this:

Personally I didnt feel much like leveling up all my materia to whomp Ruby, so I instead used her (an assumption there) to level up my materia.

As far as i can tell, you dont even need to have your KOTR materia at 2 stars. I haven't actually tested this, but i believe it to be possible to, as i've tried it at a similar state:

Required Materia:
Knights Of The Round (1+ stars)
Hades (1+ stars)
W-Summon (1+ stars)
2x Mime (1 mastered obviously)

Method:
Simply W-Summon: Knights of the round and Hades, then get the other characters to mime. Repeat the Mime trick over and over again (make sure you manage to press mime in time, otherwise you'll miss it and won't mime :/) and Ruby will die

Notes:
- This method is a good way of leveling up materia. Ensure you have the triple-growth weapons (belonging to Cloud and Cid only:/ see a walkthrough for details on how to get them) and as many double growth weapons/armours that you can equip to your characters.
- Bare in mind that you only fight Ruby once: Level up your materia with Ruby first, and then take on Emerald.
- Obviously, the fact you have to have 2 mime materias is a set back. use the triple-growth weapons to master that particular materia as fast as possble (get both the weapons and the materia as early as possible - you should be able to get the materia as early as Tifa's Leadership)
- My tested method involved me killing two party members off before battle, so that Ruby's arms immediatly went into the sand. Though i believe this wastes a lot of KOTR summons, it may be useful to other techniques.
- Hades is used because if unfrozen, Ruby will counter to KOTR and kill your charecters far too quickly.
- Once again, i warn you that this is untested. I personally managed it with a KOTR materia at 2 stars, and with Final Attack paired with Phoenix. Though its too long ago for me to remember how/why i died to get phoenix summoned:/

First off kupoartist is a little off. Off you want to beat ruby you need ribbons strait and simple. Secound start with having two members Ko'd only one alive (make sure that non ko'd person has final attack with phoenox) the tenticals usally deal all this abnormal status to you like frog, mini, confuse ,ext. atack untill ko'd then have one with w-item and just do what kupoartist said
