Favorite Opening Movie?

What was the best FF opening cinematic, according to you? Why? Did it get you enthused for the game? Was it just really cool? Or both?

For me it would absolutely have to be FFVIII. The music (Liberi Fatali) was unbelievable and the fight between Squall and Seifer contrasted with the serenity of the ocean beach and the field of flowers set the mood of the game really well. ..Plus it kicked all kinda azz too.

I'd have to say FFIX. I liked the music. Also the part when they show the Airship, Garnet going up to the window, the part where she's in the boat with her mother(that was in the opening sequence, right?), and when ZIdane jumps inside the airship and then it goes into the game. FFVII was good too, but after seeing FFIX I liked that one even more.

Definitely FFVII. It's the only one that led straight into the story. And I remember the first time I saw it, I reset the machine just to watch it again! I was gobsmacked!

1. FFVIII : The now famous Liberi Fatali / Squall - Seifer battle was fantastic... the action kept your mind off of the fact that the scenery was intentionally unspectacular (except in the rinoa bits of course), and the music kept you watching on through the amazingly choregraphed battle.
2. FFX : Made Blitzball look amazing, made Auron look badass, made you momentarily forget that Tidus sounds like a 5 year-old. And the quality of the FMV and the detail in the scenes give it the edge over most of the others.
3. FFVII : Graphically, "you had to be there at the time" (ie. at release) to fully appreciate, but the "camera" tricks employed were truley inspirational - as it pulls out from Aeris to show the massive midgar, and flashes to the wheels of a train. Short but sweet, and there to practically say "an epic story is about to unfold." bliss ^_^
4. FFXI : The longest (7 Minutes), though ultimately pointless in how it attempts to portray some kind of story lacking from the actual game. Wonderful scenes and action... and those black-mage taratarus are just so cute!
5. FFIX : Nothing particuarly bad, nor overly interesting. Simply felt like "ohhh pretty graphics", but with no true action... but then FFIX leaves the fireworks until later

(and the psx "remake" fmvs are nice enough... but really add very little)

I think it really good graphics, and I got it about 2 or 3 years ago. Also, the camera stuff was cool and it turned out that an epic story was about to unfold. I still go with IX.

FFX has the best opening ever. I love da music. I downloaded it and i listen to it all the time. Im listening to it as I write this down. And the blitz ball is so cool. When i first saw Auron in the movie he looked so badass I thought he was the bad guy.

Hmm... hmm... HMMMM !!

Like most, it's either FF8 or FF10.

In FF8, the intro is just so captivating, it's not even funny. The battle combined with the music made the seemingly repetitive scenery no big deal.
Besides... I got to see a major deal of Squall

FFX : Although this game lacked what is know as fun, the intro. was excellent. The music was by far the best when speaking of "coolness"... and Blitzball just looked so damn good that I wanted to start a team of my own.

However, I also really liked FF Tactic's intro. Whereas it was somewhat plain [or... more like VERY], the little music was so... so, SO, you know ? The wording was also very nice... It was just teh cool.

Overall, I give it to FF8. YES, I AM beeing bias here. I think most would've guessed, anyway.

I like all of the intros that I've seen. If I had to choose a favorite it would be FFIX. I also thought Auron was the bad guy and was surprised to find out he wasn't.

I'll always be capivated and enthralled by FFVII's intro movie... I really cant say what it is about it.. I just love it!

FFVIII's comes in a close second, simply for the fact that the fight-scene between Squall and Seifer, what the neatest thing I had ever seen in a FF.. nd what with Liberi Fatili playing the background, its spectacular and leaves you in a excited shudder at the end.

Third. FFX was graphically outstanding.. music.. mind-blowing.

Fourth. FFIX.. Not much to say about it.. it was alright. not very exciting, but that's okay ^_^ I still loved the game regardless.

It's gotta be VII's. It was the first RPG I ever played. I went from trying to skip the intro to wow, this is gonna be great.

VIII's was great too. Just the whole scene was bad ass.

X's was good but it didn't give me the same feeling. (Probably because of Tidus)

I didn't think IX's was that good. Now the scene where Bahamut destroy's Alexandria (I think) was kick ass. And the part with Garnet in the boat.

I enjoyed FF8's opening movie...it was the only one that really stayed with me, FF7's was too short, and I can't really remember 9...and i've seen 10's almost a million times :p.

Liberi Fatali was an awesome song!!
