Which one? We can say that Silent Hill and Resident Evil are two greatest Horror games ever created (Who cares about Dino Crisis or Along i nthe Dark? Or House of the Dead anyway?)

Question is which one is the the BEST? Wat do u think?

I think Resident Evil 0wnz. It is more fun, more enemies, better story, better characters... etc.

Wha??? Dino Crisis stomped Silent Hill IMO. As for RE....The first two were amazing, and then the series got old and its magic was gone. It was too predictable and therefore lost its "scariness"

Man, how can you say you shouldn't care of Alone IN The Dark, which started the whole sh genre, or of the excellent Dino Crisis?

And well, I don't know what you mean by better story, better characters etc. because Resident Evil has one of the most "Z-movie" plots ever written...

I choose Silent Hill, hands down. It's more original, while RE plots are really dumb in some parts of the game. Plus, in Silent Hill the characters are more "human" and complex and not they're not the usual heroes of survival horror games, like in RE.

I've enjoyed Silent Hill series much more than Resident Evil one. It's my personal taste maybe, but I find Resident Evil annoying, at least the latest games of the series. They added nothing new to the previous games.

hey dont get me wrong RE is one of the coolest games ever but i found SH more realisitc then re....re some of the charcters were too matcho i just found SH a hell of alot better then re IMO.

Sorry, but I don't get what's the point in comparing the two polls: do you want to demonstrate anything? In the other forum the result is opposite to this one, but this doesn't mean one of these game is absolutely the best. It only means here people at the moment prefer SH while in another place they can think RE is better. Not all people like RE games as you do, so? I don't think there's anything wrong with people having different tastes...

Out of all the video games I have played (and we are talking 20 years of gaming here!), never have two game series been more apt for comparison to films than Res Evil and Silent Hill.

Consider the Aliens series of films, but more specifically Alien and Aliens.

Alien was about tension. Atmosphere. Dynamics. Fear. Alien is Silent Hill. Both Silent Hill games have never been based on action - they've been more about atmosphere. Like Alien they create feelings of suspense, dread, fear and plain old discomfort.

Res Evil is more like Aliens. Less of the suspense and atmosphere and more about sudden shocks and jumps. Remember the first time playing Res Evil 1 when the dogs jumped through the window? I dunno about you lot, but I jumped. That's what Res Evil relies on - shock factor and action, just like Aliens did.

The question asked was what do I prefer? My answer? Exactly the same as if someone asked which out of Alien and Aliens I prefered... It depends on my mood.

Sometimes I wanna see total action and I wanna jump - othertimes I want to feel the atmosphere build and experience dread... I honestly can't say which I prefer.

In my eyes they are both fantastic experiences - it simply depends on my mood.

I am not saying i don't like Silent Hill. 've played 1 and 2 but i don't like it that much.

But RE is very scary. I played RE Rmake for GC and it scared shit out of me.

And especially in RE3, when those zombie crows just popped out from the bus crashing the windows, i nearly fainted. Too scary.

I have to say resident evil. No doubt about it. Don't get me wrong silent hill is also a great game but I just like the characters better even though it got kind of tired after RE2. It's hard to choose. Both have their ups and downs.

no offense but i found re not to be that scary it is scary with damn things jumping thur windows and stuff but i didnt find it that scary nor did silent hill scare me im just not easily scared.
p.s. cs_nerd i have some spoilers from re0 if you want to know seeing your a re fan like myself i will tell you but be carefull it might spoli it.

It was kinda scary, but after like half of the game, I lost interest completely. Also... ugh, that woman is soo slow.

'Bout the other two : RE2. The rest are just not ' scary '. Sillent hill... nah.
