What Would Your Anime/Manga Be Like?
Sorry if this is uninteresting, but here I go. On this forum, we all keep talking about other animes out there, but what about if we were to create our own?
What would your story plot be? Action, Sports, Horror, Mystery, Drama, Comedy, Romance, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, or even Hentai (Porn) or a bit of everything? Would it end well, end badly, or with a cliffhanger? How many characters would you have and would you have anyone killed off? What would they look like? Or what would you like them to look like (for example, would they look almost like Evangelion-style, Lain-style, Cowboy Bebop-style, Ghibli-style, etc.)? What would their personalities be? For anime, how many episodes would you like it span and/or for manga, how many books would it go? (Approximately) You can mention anything you like and create more categories than the ones I mentioned above. You can use other anime references (for example, "my plot would be similar to Rahxephon, except that I'd change/make..."). For the plot, just mention a summary of it; don't write a story otherwise it'd belong in Fan Fiction. Please don't be embarassed to share your ideas even if you have something that's similar to someone else's. I'm sure everyone has something good; there's a lot of creative people on here. Have fun!

Well, my anime thingies that i come up with i usually get by taking all of my friends, and throwing their personalities with little twists and whatnot into an interesting story.
So, mine are usually deep, with very complex chaarcters, moreso with the relations they have with eachother. Making it really fun to use actual people in manipulkating the actions and situations. Mostly, it would be a violent drama, but i can't stand not putting comedy into it, usually with one or two comic relief characters. For example, i have a friend who always talked about neevr being very important in anything. So for shits and giggles, i gave him the role of a dead evil scientist who works with his very evil, and very alive. I took his character and shoved him into a robotic 7up can, with a big laser arm. Mainly for some stress off the seriousness in the "bad guy section". Then on the other end, on another span of evil this or thats, i gave my power hungry freind brandon, a death star, that never works. And an army of spoon throwing ninjas. Everyone else is pretty realistic, with deep pastrs and whatnot, but since they are taken off of real people, their personalities are forced to end up making you laugh or ease out the tension at some points or another. My stories would be a good three seasons, to bring in more characters here, and to get rid of some others there. So of course, mine will have plenty of main character death, and unexpected or unwanted turn of events. For the most part it will have a very sad, cruel, and violent/mature story line, but will be realistic enough to have classic average humor or comic relief. It wouldn't however, ruin the story or mood of the series, since it would probably, like i said, be a full three seasons, so it has room for comedy in all the badness of it all. I stray from unimaginable magic or super powers. I like it to be more realistic. But i do tend to add a scientific sort of magic, where people have abnormal abilities through machinery and that sort of thing. The animation would lean towards realism. Not as far as things like ghost in the shell, but more like bebop, where i can add the comedic facial expressions if needed, but still, keep plenty of blood and graphic violence when needed. Also, i'd have no problem with nudity, but nothing would be done in a perverted, non tasteful way. Just as long as it develops power and emotion to some scenes if it's needed. The character number would be large, but many will come in later, and others will be gotten rid of prior to as well. I guess that describes the sort of anime i'd have.

just like my tastes, mine would be all over the place, and chances are, no-one would understand it! I actually came up with the outline of a story not so long ago, with some typically crazy thinking... lets just say, that in my pretty short experience of Anime (nearing a pitiful 3 months...), I ended up stealing a bit of just about every series I've watched a little of
Anyways, just a quick outline: It'd be a sort of Shoujo / Shounen cross-over Anime, centered around the idea that there are two worlds. A digital and a real world. (Yes, I warned you that I'd be ripping ideas left right and centre!), with the Real world being more realistic, and focused on telling a story about peoples relationships, whilst the virtual world is all about the impossibly cool, a place for misfits to socialise and play real virtual games against each other... this would be the real Shounen anime realm, with lots of fighting and stuff. The series would centre on a female main character, a misfit in her first year at one of her country's best universities. The university has been developing a special neural network and this is where the linkup to the virtual world comes from. Initially it seems like a normal school network, albeit in an extremely high-tech way: but the very nature of people's representation - i.e. You are what you truely believe yourself to be - and certain other goings on, clearly detach this world from the other. I'd allow a pretty big ammount of characters - a core set from each world, and whole load of interesting supporting characters. Technically, for every character in the virtual world, there would be one in the real world... but to make things interesting, the real world peoples may be hard / never or even Impossible to find (they may be AIs, or - somehow - real people who don't exist in the real world. Like cyber-ghosts...) At some point, it becomes necessary for the character to find out just who those in the digital world really are, raising the question - which is the more "virtual" world? the world in which we are what we are born as, or the world in which we choose who we want to be? Of course, the ultimate conclusion would be for the character to align the two worlds, and relationship sets for herself and everybody. Because ultimatly, either world can be about what a person chooses to be. Or something . I'm undecided about the drawing style... I think it would be potentially interesting to have two entirely different styles... A sort of realistic look for the "real" world (no magically deforming heads or features ^_^), but something altogether more stylised for the virtual world (allowing those things). Making that fit together though, would likely be difficult, and would prevent the series from being able to confuse the audience as to which world they were viewing.... I'm not sure about how many episodes could be written on that subject... Though theres a main story thread there, there could always be episodes in the middle to flesh the series out, all about exploration of the "Virtual" world. Technically, the ammount of gametypes or whatever that could be covered are virtually unlimited... I'd say about 20 would give enough scope to explore a few off the thread scenarios, without loosing the plot completely. Anyways, i'll shut up now

kupo, I must say "Wow". I really LOVE your idea...and yes, it's true there are some things that are taken from other series/movies but that's where we all get our inspiration/references from. The fact that you decided to create the two worlds with character counterparts living in each is a very interesting idea. I would say this sort of thing would be good for about a good 26 episode (about two seasons) or if you want to be really mysterious, probably 13 episodes (though the character development or plot buildup would have to be quick or altered to leave things up to the viewer to decide). It would also be cool if you kinda left the ending in that sort of "unexplainable/cliffhanger/make your own conclusion" sort of thing (similar to those of "Boogiepop Phantom" or "Serial Experiments Lain" or the ending of "Angel Sanctuary" and "NOIR"...something like that).
With character style, I think the idea of drawing realism for the real world and slightly more "anime" for the virtual world is nice idea...but the problem is the style wouldn't stay consistent and might confuse new viewers. This is different from live-action to animation...whereas this is animation to animation. But, I think it'll make a very refreshing change. I can see it now though: the minute one of the realistic characters "cross over" to the virtual world, everything about them would change...you can do it in frames, where you start off with the fingers/hands gradually transforming from real to fake. Or it might be easier to just do a flat out transformation the minute they are in the other world. You must remember though to keep some feature about them distinct in order for the viewers to realize it's the same person (I know it's not so hard, but these are the important little things). Ahh...I'm sorry to ramble on and on and intrude on your plot. ^^;;; I just think this idea is very winning....you should try to draw this out or write the story first...then draw later. It's easier that way. Great job!

Mine would be something in Lain-style, most likely... Less hi-tech, maybe something with a surreal feeling to it. Also with some retro element, maybe not set in a precise era. I like the idea of mixing elements from different sources and cultures, but I wouldn't like it to look like a ridiculous mess. Everything must fit and not be excessive in a story. If it has to be a little excessive, it has to be for a reason, not simply to hide an uninspired work. I would also avoid stereotypes of any kind, so no much action , no love stories either, no heroes trying to save the world etc. The plot could be not so clear, especially at the beginning. I'd like some sort of suspense to make people wonder and follow the proper times of narration. It'd probably suck overall
But honestly, if given the chance to create my own series, or at least to write a screenplay for some anime/manga, that would be the choice for the the content and its style. |

There are so many different ( and interesting ) possibilities.
Right now, there are a few different anime / games that influence my thoughts: 1. Blame! ( vol. 1-9 ) 2. Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter ( PS2 game ) 3. Chonchu ( vol 1-4 ) 4. Final Fantasy games ( 7-12 ) 5. Forever Kingdom ( PS2 game ) 6. Metal Gear Solid games ( 1-2 ) I try taking the most interesting aspects of their stories and combine them together... so far, I didn't come up with anything that would even be considered as a draft of a possible story, as I have no time. Still, I'm brainstorming! I like the whole concept of being in an 'underground world' and trying to come back to the surface... meh, we'll see what comes up... eventually. |

once i tried to create an anime...i had a couple of ppl who would even draw for me. i wwas going to name it G-World... it was about a game called g-ball, (g-ball exists, but its not with this purpose) a game of the 22nd century..or THE game, cuz it had surpassed every single one til that time. it was a mix of futeball with some addons like rollerblades, n such.
the story itself, would be about a boy, a "star" in g-ball...but a failure in everything else...(how original)... well, didnt even had the chance to make up something good, lost interest in it a few weeks after
