Best GF/Aeon/Summon

to clarify, i am very much a ff fanatic, didn't play the early ff's but have taken on all there is to take on in ff7 through to ff10 and am waiting to see wot part 2 of the latest throws at me.

but interested to know what everybody else loves about the series, favourite GF's are (i realise they had different names throughout the series)

mine wihtout a doubt would have to be
ff7 - knights of the round
ff8 - Odin
ff9 - Bahamut
ff10 - Yojimbo

hmmm...
FF4: Bahamut (most powerful... and umm, SNES graphics don't really have much between "looks great" and "looks ugly")
FF5: Golem. Not many summons keep turning up, whacking you one and leaving, only to get attacked themselves and ask for your help. Plus it was pretty useful.
FF6: There were loads... Phoenix was quite good in this one, as there was a fair bit of story to it.
FF7: Choco Mog! Shame it stank, but it looked good
FF8: Doink! its the Tonberry. (I liked the Cactuar as well...)
FF9: Odin was back on form...
FF10: They were all a bit boring really... Bahamut was pretty good.
FFTactics: Kupo! Around and around you go! Moogle!

Brit, you should really try the earlier FF games. They're quite fun, if somewhat Graphically... retarded. At least try FF6 and then FF Anthology (FF Origins is a little hard to get into). They all have stories that are nearly as good or better than those you've already played, and the characters are great as well. Plus, they're dirt cheap in the UK (FF6 - £10, FFA - £20, FFO - £20 - all cheaper if you shop around.)

4 in FFChronicles was good, but a little too hard to beat for me. I couldn't beat the last boss in that version without dying like 3 turns into it and ended up using a gameshark. I don't worry much about graphics, especially for the older FFs, I understand that they werte m,ade in times where the graphics are somewhat behind what we have today. I wanna get anthology, and FFO isn't all that hard to get into but the games don't have summons in them, if it matters at all to ya.

FFVII: Shiva(just cause she's female)
FFVIII: Eden
FFIX: Basically all the ones in it that are also from FF4 since they mostly look just like the ones in 4 just with better graphics and more detail
FFX: Shiva; what can I say, her nails are long and her hait and animation is much improved

shiva certainly gets best looking award, well fit in ff10

first ff i played was ff7

i remember being awestruck by it, story, graphics weren't bad, characters, gameplay, everything. by far my favourite ff, along with the latest ff10

fist time i got bahamut then neo-bahamut and finally bahamut-zero in ff7, i didn't put it down till it was complete. seph was a great bad guy with regard to the storyline

Eden looked Pretty, and did nice damage (Boost was invaluable... as soon as I found out what you had to actually press in the PC version )... but does that really make up for the coffee-break length of the summon? It went on far too long, and calling it a little "OTT" is an understatement (Eden zooms around for 5 minutes, fires a enemy into a galaxy. makes the galaxy explode...). Knights of The Round and Ark (FF9) were similarly inclined, though as Ark does 9999 damage maximum, it was a complete waste of time.

The best looking summon IMO is Oden, but he was rather pathetic in FFVIII, the ability to kill in one was good, but against the tougher enemies the risk wasnt really worth it.

certainly wasn't in ff10 tho which is a shame coz he was the koolerst of the lot, had mystery and an element of suaveness about him

he's been in the series since FF4 at least, though I think he has been called "Raiden" for some reason in some translations. (actually - no that was what he could be "powered up to" in FF6...). He always used to be the "summon in the castle basement". No seriously.

Why he wasn't in FF10 is beyond me. He was in FF9 (and very cool indeed), but perhaps FF10 reveals that it is chronologically after FF8 somehow, because:

(Read Spolier only if you've played FF8 past the end of Disc 3)
Spoiler: show
Seifer cuts Odin in half in FF8. Presumably he died (getting cut in half is usually a major disability... unless you're a Siemeese Twin), and FFV's Gilgamesh took over, though they didn't keep with this idea (which is a shame - Gilgamesh was pretty cool)

very true
tho to be honest, if they were keeping a storyline going for the ff series then the question remains where did ramuh go in ff10 as well, since he appeared in ff7, and ff9. tho as i recall he wasn't in ff8 which is odd.

then u've got the whole bahamut thing, neo bahamut and bahamut zero in ff7 only. as well as all the g'fs in ff8 that didn't appear again - eden, pandemona, carbuncle, cerberus, quezacotl who seemed to replace ramuh with the lightning element attack, and various other gf's

Spoiler: show
and i wasn't a big fan gilgamesh he was poor to be honest, no where near as kool as odin, he did some really pants move on seifer, that no way rivalled odin's and u can see this from the cards (odin's 8,A and gil 9,7, plus i have a thing about nija's, knights are far kooler
