Please whenever you are on the line with a tech support person do think of them as jackasses. Thier job is the most irritating job on earth. My father got me a job as a tech support guy and I swear there wasnt a level of supidity so high...

Lady: Umm... when I press the power button on my printer it doesnt come on.
Me: Have you tried checking the cables are all secured, ma'am??
Lady: Oh... haha thank you, silly me.
Me: no problem.

I got about 15 calls like that today... I wasnt so friendly after the 10th time. Here's the dumbest call I had today:

Some guy: erm... my monitor had these strange rainbows on the corners. How am I supposed to fix this?
Me: Did you press the "de-magnitize" button?
Some guy: The what now?
Me: The "de-magnitize" button. Its located on the front panel next to the picture controls.
Some guy: Oh... this must be this in my hand..
Me: In your... hand?
Some guy: Yeah, heh... I kinda disassembled the monitor cause I thought it was something wrong with it on the inside.
Me: *slapping my forehead*You should call tech support before you try anything as drastic, sir.
some guy: Yeah, I'll do that in the future.

There is also those horny old ladies that gets turned on by your voice. This is a conversation I had earlier today, that really went like this:

Horny woman: Yes, I need to set up a network though windows xp, how do I do this?
Me: (I state some crap I read out of the manual in front of me)
Horny woman: Your have a real sexy voice.
Me: Thank you for the compliment.
Horny woman: Do you have a special someone in your life?
Me: (thinking: Listen lady I'm a friggin 16 year old boy here, you damn child molester)Sorry, this is a tech support line, feel free to ask me any tech support questions you have.
Horny woman: Well I have a problem with [deleted due to the extreme maturity of the comment].
Me: ....sorry but I have other people on the line. If you dont have any technical questions please hang up.
Horny woman: [another sexual comment deleted]
Me: Is there anything else I can help you with?
Horny woman: Cmon, don't you want to [comment deleted]
Me: I dont have time for this... *click*

And to think that was just my second day... there are many more summer work days like this to come... now I can see how some of these people leave work so stressed. I'd rather be a telemarketer...

lololol i'm SO sorry chara, but that is just so damn funny. I feel bad for you about having a s^&**y job, but these stories are hilarious! The idiot pulled the monitor apart cause he put a magnet near it? The only thing i noticed is that you probably meant "dont think of them as jackasses". I'm sorry that you have a $%^& job, but if you keep it, pleeze, PLEEZE keep posting job stories. and next time, i dont think it would be a problem to include the "explicit" content as long as you kept it semi-censored. just makes me guess, and my imagination isn't at top-notch today. good luck with the job though. Don't quit before you get your first paycheck man!!

I do tech support for an ISP.....after a while you become numb to the stupidity.
I've heard some good ones like:

"I have microwave 98"
"Internet Exploder won't work"

and so on....

But my all time favorite thing to do is tricking people into unplugging their phones

Me - "Is there a filter on that phone line?"
(L)user - "No"
Me - "Ok then. You wanna unplug that for me?"

But trust me, some people who are working in the same field aren't very kind. They just leave you waiting on the phone and ignore your requests

LOL, i gotta remember the phone line trick. I'll tell anyone else i know who does tech-help. The shit like this is so amusing. There a re so many idiots around, and they have no fu^&ing idea what they are doing. Such an amusement.
