Which one?

Which GTA game should I play first? I haven't played any of them, so I know nothing about them, apart from what I've read here and there. That's why I'm quite confused and I'd like to have a suggestion on which game to get first.

if your talking about the whole series and not just 3 and vc then play gta:2, gta1 and 2 are pretty much the same just diff missions. the old gta's arent to great theyre 2d but they kinda fun but they will definetly suck if you play vc or 3 first. id say, gta2, gta3, then vice city.

I agree. You should play the earlier versions first coz then you would appreciate the improvements

yes play the early ones first, after i played gta 1 and 2 when u play gta 3 its a big WOW!!!!

Depends... if you're only curious to see the game with all the features and improvements, it's better to start with the latest games. If you like the genre very much and you think you could be interested in getting more than one GTA game, it's better to get the earlier ones.

if you want to play all of them. play gta1 and 2 first i made that mistake. i already played GTA3 and felt like playing GTA1 and 2 *i bought the version's off ebay* and i thought it sucked

I'm not sure I want to try all of them. I mean, mainly I'm curious because of all the news and info spread here and there talking about these games.

trust us m8 play gta1 first for about 2 weeks to get an idea whats grand theft auto is all about!

yeah....
i started with GTA1

then moved to the london one when it came out
then played 2
and when 3 came out i was amazed
so i figure that you should do the same
from 1 - 3vc (vice city)

it's better that way

1 is not that bad if you haven't played 3 or VC already

i actualy love the classic GTA

they were fun even though that they were 2D
still didn't make the game boring
hehe all i did in the first game is steal cars and drive around town pretend it's real life

(AND YES, I HAVE A LIFE) (maybe not)

take my advice and play 1,2,3,VC

in other words, play the lot. id guess u havent got loads to spend at once (possibly) and want a few less. id say gta2 (same graphics, good gang system) then vc becuase the graphics/engine is the same in gta3 and vc.
gta 1 or 2 then vc.
