Have you ever considered quitting video games?

It's not exactly like smoking, but it's just as addictive. It's also very time consuming and expensive. I spend WAY too much time and money on my games. Now I'm not saying I would take it back, because I've loved every minute of it... but suddenly the image of me ten years from now flashed into my head - glued to a TV set, thumbs blistered, eyes sunken in dark, skin pale, the skin of my arse practically grown into a well-worn chair and the sounds and lights of the latest game emanating throughout my apartment, still alone and no prospects - this image, though maybe just a bit dramatic, makes me want to chuck my consoles right out the window.

I feel it's necessary for me to quit video games. It's not lie i'll miss em too much, i suck at most of em anyways. But the main reason i need to stop playing is because i get really frustrated by them , to the point where i yell and scream and cuss like you wouldn't believe, expecially when thinking of an upbeat and kind person as myself.

I came across this revelation while playing Tao Feng, a new fighting game fior the XBox. I can't imagine how much i yelled and hit things while playing the game. The only reason i didn't brteak the controler was because it weasn't mine, but SSSnake's, and he'd hurt me if i broke it. I find that the worst part of me comes out when i play video games, anything from Halo, to Mario Sunshine, to any old RPG. I become very loud, violent, and angry. Makes me one of the most unpleasant people to be around when i'm playing them.

And, since i never seem to do very well at video games, no matter how much i try, i find that playing them is quite demeaning. So i feel that the best thing for me to do is lay down on the gaming, and sooner or later stop all together. But no matter how much i hatre them, i will never stop playing Halo and Melee with my friends. They just make the world come together.

Your kina right. When you said that, the images of my video game life flashed in my head. As a little boy growing up to my age now. Hours of games when I could be playing outside. I do play sports but still. It makes sense what your saying and I totally agree with you. And their very expensive and why waste all your time of your life. You only get to be my age once. But i gota admitt video games can be fun.

The answer to your question is: no! I agree with dan. I wouldn't quit playing, but sometimes taking a break is good. You don't have to play several hours each day6, just to feel you're wasting your time. A little balance is excellent strategy to keep on doing anything you like without feeling bad or thinking you should quit!

No. It would be like quitting watching movies or reading books etc... Whenever I feel I need more time or that I'm spending to much time on them, I take a break. The break can be long or not, doesn't matter.

BTW, how comes all of a sudden all these people are posting threads from PSX Extreme forums here?

Yes, I've checked. Whatever... some members are the same, but the others are not, so it's not a big deal...

Ive done it to show that people are just copying the same thing and putting it in other forums, but will be happy to stop if you want, Fortune. Oh, and yes people are quite different there, ive noticed that from some of our members over there also...

Honestly, I hope the copying/pasting threads doesn't become a general rule. Not because it's not allowed, but because some variety would be better both for us and for the other forums, I suppose, also considering that like goodman demonstrated more than once, there are always members able to point it out. And anyway, where's all the fun if there are always the same persons commenting anywhere?

Yes, my point was mainly to let everyone know that the person making this and other threads that are just copied and pasted and seemingly making an emotional appeal to the forum, yet you can see its not personal at all, they are making it to at least one other forum, word for word, so there is little reason to respond in a personal manner, either, i hope some can understand that logic...

I don't think I could ever quit playing videogames. It's who I am, a part of my lifestyle. I don't play as much as I did, but that's because now I have a job and college to worry about.

Hey, that was me that was a'cursing. There's a difference between saying it in a phrase, and outright abusing someone by saying it. That's just my opinion.

Yeah Goodman, that forum has changed a lot. Arnold has changed too, he always give me a "I'm too cool for you" attitude to me now, it was much more fun when him, jeb, traddles, bryan, you, myself, and a few others used to chat a lot. But nothing lasts forever..I also feel that people ignore everything I say, like as soon as I say something, thread goes dead..especially here

Erh, back on topic. No, I never will. It's one of my greater hobbies. However, I find that I can't keep a long enough interest in a game to play it non-stop like I used to. The game has to be excellent, to me, to keep me coming back for more and not letting it go. That's the reason I have some games I have yet to finish yet, like I have to force myself to play them some more. Not to mention I'm tight on money and can't get the games I DO want all the time. I was thinking that maybe writing about games again would help, but I'm not very adept at making websites and such..

From some of your last posts I've noticed you worry too much about it. you're always worried you're being ignored. You shouldn't think about it. It ruins the pleasure of chatting/posting.
