!?!Gaming Respects!?!
Why do games and gamers get so little respect?
Why do Games get not respect, and they are the things in the stock market who make the most money? Gamers really dont get any respect, if you think about it they have a TV show for everything but Video Games, I have even see a show that shows some Hic drawing, I mean the the f*ck. What do you think? |

The world of videogaming is relatively new, so many people still have to understand that it's not something only aimed to an audience of kids.
You know, it was the same for cinema at the beginning of the XX century: the greatest part fo people thought it was something not really on the "cultural" side and they ignored it and despised actors and directors for a period. Then they had to change their minds and consider movies the same way as theatre and other forms of art. I think a similar process will interest the world of videogames. |

I see a video games as a talent or sport.I mean im really good at them but we as gamers get no respect. Were seen as nerds with no lifes and that isnt true. There should be some respect for the business.

SSSnake is right. You develop a talent to playing games. Then you practice your skill til you become masters like me and many other gamers in their genres. Respect has to be earned. Others don't want ot take the time to give you a chance to earn it. We are a selfless bunch.
EDIT: It has only been around for about 25-30 years. Please limit the amount of "and years" in your posts Trik.

I like how Mourder has become so knowledgeable and intelligent sounding since he became mod! *pinches cheeks*
Anyway, videogames believe it or not is a billion dollar business, and is growing to make more money than the movie industry, now take that fact and shove it down your throat! As for being a gamer for about 10 years now, sometimes I feel that I'm TOO good at games |

Just a note I do believe there is a Videogame channel out or comming out soon on digital cable. I saw a preview of it last week and they showcased E3 and did game reivews for like 3 hours. Then another game related show were gamers play one another for prizes on the air and you can watch them It was really sweet.
Now if I could only remember what it was called.

I Think.
Rei And Fortune Gave In A Very Good Point.
Cause I Know Whenever I Say The Word "VideoGames"....People Around Me.. (In Pakistan) Say .."Kids Stuff" And U Know Like That. I Really Hate It When This Happens... It Really Shouldn't. But It'll End. We All Know It'll End, As The Time Will Pass. U See The Reason I Think...That Games Are Not Given Any Respect...Same For Gamers. Is Because. Back In 80's And Early 90's, The Games That Were Made....DID Look Alot Like "Cartoons" On Television. And There Are Soo Many People Who Dont Like Watching Cartoons All Of The WORLD, Which Eventually Made Them Dislike "VideoGames".. Now That Games Are Made Differently And Are Gone Into The NEXT Level.....Those People Who Never Game Respect To VideoGames Are Not EVEN Looking At These NEW Games...(Thinking That They Are Gonna Be Just Like PacMan And Mario). Which They Dont Like. But All This Will Change. As Games Will Become MORE LifeLike. People Will Start Accepting VideoGames As A PassTime And NOT Waste Of Time!
