Grand Theft Auto Online?
Just to introduce myself, I'm Ben and although I've read for a while, I have never posted. I will, however, be writing reviews for Ps2Fantasy.com in the very near future.
I just wondered if anyone had heard rumors of a Grand Theft Auto game going online and/or what your thoughts would be. Would Rockstar be able to make it work? Would it be a mission-based game where you build up a character, or even more free than previous ones (perhaps the struggle for control of crime would be the main purpose)? Maybe you could even be a cop in the city they use. I just was wondering if anyone else here thinks it would be tough to manage and produce but hard to top if it succeeds. Mannofiron |

I haven't heard of a GTA online, though I wouldn't be surprised if someone is already thinking about it or trying to develop something like it.
An online game would be interesting, for sure, but the way the game will be developed is tricky. Perhaps, since making it online, you can create a character and build up his/her status and recruit other online members as part of your gang or clan or something. Then you take over territories and areas and such. Another player can do the same and both parties will have to go into a war with each other to claim that territory. If one particular player's gang is rising up on the status, the other online players will have to build up their credibility/status and try to take down/take over the "rising leader" or something. But, this might take forever and would require a lot of different missions/mini-games to do this. Or, as you said, maybe you can play as a cop and another player can be the criminal and the cop has to try to beat down the criminal and his thuggish ways or something. Ah, my ideas are just ramble, but I don't really know if any online game would work or not. Knowing Rockstar's reputation now though, it'd probably just sell even if it wasn't such a good game/idea.

if you never saw my thread from a while back.
www.Multitheftauto.com Online GTA for PC, though it's not very good(tried it a long time back) Apparently Rockstar was gunna put GTA online on PC, but decided not to, but left some kind of multiplayer compatible script or something like that and the guy exploited it. |
