New movie!
Hey, check this out.
Threshold Entertainment have aquired the rights to Ninja Scroll from Madhouse Entertainment and are planning a $60 Million live action movie based on the license. I just read that up at Animenewsnetwork and I'm real excited! i loved the movie and i can't wait for the live action version. I just hope they don't murder it like thay did to Fist of the North Star. And I'm still trying to find out more on the new Jacky Chan movie for Initial D. Sound exciting to me. How about you?

Hey, that's awesome.
Is Threshold Entertainment a Japanese company? If done right, this movie could be excellent. Seeing the action in the anime in real life would be quite interesting. This is pretty exciting news, because "Ninja Scroll" is a pretty big anime movie (at least in North America) and if you've seen it, you can really see how good a live action version of it could be. |

I just hope that the flick isn't made too corny.
It certainly has the possibility to be, with all the odd characters it has. |

I want to know how strictly they're going to go by the original anime. Like, are they going to put in ALL the scenes, or make a pg13, maybe R movie out of it. If they do it right, It'll be NC17.

I assume that they will just release several versions, cut, uncut, NC-17 version, ect. I just hope the NC-17 are easy enough to access.

Ninja Scroll was an absolutely kickass anime.
A live action version of it would be cool if it was done right.. but things 'made into movies' from thier origional forms seldom turn out spectacular. Odds are they'd tone it down to suit a wider audience than just Otakus interested in seeing the live movie, and in all likelyhood some of the more out there characters would end up just being funky when translated into actual life (like the old government agent.. or the rock dude.. Sorry if I sound like a dumb@$$ but it's been a long time since I've seen Ninja Scroll)

Ah...Ninja Scroll would be awesome live action. I also hope they don't botch it up, because that'll be cool to watch if it was all perfect!

I was also excited about the Jacky Chan movie for Initial D. If they did that one right, It could be a kick ass movie as well. But has anyone actually watched movies that were made in hong kong? They're terrable! They said that the movie was going to be a very high budget flick, but in china, what does high budget mean anyway?
Anyone got any word or something to say about that movie? Oh yeah, and Disney bought the rights to Princess Mononoke as well. Just to mention it.

Doesn't Alliance or someone already have the rights to "Princess Mononoke"?
I know it was released here, dubbed by celebrities (Claire Danes, Billy Bob Thornton, Minnie Driver, Gillian Anderson, etc.). |

Yeah, it was purchased a long time ago. And it was very succesful. but for some reason, Disney just bought right to it again. Maybe they want to air it on the Disney channel or something. Anything would be better than Hello Kitty.

Actually, at the moment, cartoon network is getting the rights for a whole sh*t load of anime for Toonami and the adult swim. They want more anime that they can keep unedited and still have the great anime feeling to it for adult swim. Originally, all the anime on adult swim, other that Cowboy Bebop, and Yu Yu Hakusho, were originally meant to air on Toonami, that's why they are so edited.
As a matter of fact a few of the animes that were concidered to be aired on Cartoon network were Saber Marionette J, Battle Athletes, El Hazard, and Vandread. But complications arose while they tried to edit everything out of it. I read this in an interview with cartoon network about how they go about with editing their anime. It's very interesting to read. I'm still waiting for them to put up some more adult oriented anime on the adult swim and to just move Outlaw Star, Tenchi Muyo, Pilot Cannidates, and Mobile Suit gundam 0083 Stardust Memory to Toonami and the midnight run so that they have room for the good stuff.
