Milne reflects on this, making their obsessive attitudes become a strong point. Pooh knows he has no brain and that he can only care about honey. The others know they're only toys and can think the way toys would think. They do not pretend to be anything else than stuffed animals, apart from Owl who indeed is regarded as ridiculously pretentious from the author's point of view.
Oh, I didn't think of it that way...but I'm glad you pointed it out though.

Yeah, when I was growing up, my knowledge of Pooh was really based on Disney's interpretation (or manipulation). I only saw very few Pooh cartoons and I thought they were okay, although I'm not sure if they're accurate to the books since I've never read them. But as I said earlier, the Pooh series, despite some of the things I didn't like as much, had a sadness around it that I couldn't explain or why. But nowadays when you hear about Pooh, it's always about how cute or funny he is...I should check out the books.

To be honest... I started liking Disney's Pooh especially after getting to know Milne's/Shepard's one. Disney's one is ok, but too flat and simplified in many cases, especially the TV series - they made a better work with feature length movies though.

I don't really like to dwell on the past, but I still have my ninja turtle toys that I've been trying to get rid of, but my mother keeps talking me out of it because she says they might be worth something.

Some of them are in good condition, and then some of them are missing body parts. I was kind of destruction back in the day, but "shrugs".

I also have some old race cars (them remote control cars) sitting on my shelf, but they're basically collecting dust.

I don't have fond memories of them toys, but the program itself brings back little memories. The only memory I have though is when I dressed up as one of them turtles... I think Raphael.

And then I have some basketball cards. I don't really care much about them except for my 15 Michael Jordan's. If I can find a place to trade them in, hopefully I can get paid some big bucks.

I'm currently watching all Smurfs TV series again. I still find them incredibly entertaining!

The smurfs are classic, we have a little ceramic replica of the black smurf(the one who bites the other smurfs in their tails )
A friend of mine can do a mighty good impression of Azrael when he's drunk.

I'd like to see that

I used to have Smurfs figurines, some mushroom village house too. I don't know where, but they still must be somewhere.... At the moment I only have the Clockwork Smurf figurine on a shelf. I'm sure he does all sorts of useful things around the house when I'm not watching!

Oh gosh. I'm about a million times more scared of the Smurfs than I am of Moomin. Really!

I can't explain my fear! It's a strange thing. There's something every so slightly dystopian about them, something that has me bolting for cover when they appear on the television. It's strange. Perhaps it's a British thing...

I like the smurfs but I find the atmosphere of their stories, especially the ones involving Gargamel, too sinister: Gargamel always wanting to kill them in the weirdest ways, like turning them into stone or gold, or wanting to fry them, boil them, cut them into pieces, etc. And what about their village always being destroyed by giants, dragons, storms? SCARY!The purple smurfs episode, with smurfs biting each others tails and turning purple, that was also a terrible one, I still feel anxious if I think about it. Wait, Berserker said black smurfs, but I remeber them as purple. Is it the same story? I remember when I was a kid smurfs cartoons gave me nightmares in more than one occasion !

As far as I know they're black, I even got one at home...they made this strange sort of "gnap gnap"-noise when they went around biting. That's why we call them the gnap gnap-smurf

Yes, it was the "gnac-gnac" (or gnap as you say) smurfs episode! But I was sure they were purple

They were in fact black in their original form; the color was changed to purple later, as Wikipedia states:

Quote:
The Smurfs in the episode "The Purple Smurf" were originally black. They changed it because black Smurfs could be seen as racist.

Thanx for clearing that one up Harry, so our memories are both correct!
I never found the smurfs scary...sorry Fail. There was this one show about space though, that had these sort of reptile people(no, it's not V) that I found quite terrifying...don't know what it's called though
