Final Battle
I am working on this RPG called Final Battle. I have become far in the progress of the game but before I finish I want to see how the community would like it. So what I have done was made a demo of it.
Download it here . Give me any feedback, positive or negative. Also please tell me of any bugs so I wouldnt have to fix a lot of stuff once its finished. EDIT: I just changed the URL to a smaller file that shaved off about 5megs.

Wait Chara, do you mean the RPG isn't finished yet? Is that a demo or something? And which programs are you using for it?

I downloaded your game but I think I need to have RPGMaker installed on my puter to run it so I couldn't check it out.
Is there a different way you can put it up for download (as an .exe or something like that)? |

Yeah I used RPGmaker to run the program. Try downloading the bigger version, here . That has all the files included so it should work. I would upload the 25meg version but my 56k wouldnt like that.
If that still doesnt work you'll just have to wait until I'm finished because I used some of my own files instead of the original RTS files you have to download for most games made with RPG maker. What I dont get is that it works with some people who dont have RPG maker and for others it don't. I dunno what is up with that.

Wow, cool! You're making your own RPG! But unfortunately, I don't have RPGmaker, and as you said, the game ain't working for me! I've tried re-dowloading it, but nothing. I'm not sure this is the reason, but since you mentioned it, it must be something related to the fact I don't have the rPGmaker installed. I wonder if there's a way I can get the RPGmaker program to try your game?

I doubt that installing RPG maker would work because as I said earlier I use some of my own characters and chipsets instead of the already installed ones and the version I'm using is the 2003 Japanese one. So if you do manage to get it, you probably still wont be able to play it as the sprites for the main character and some NPCs would be missing.
I would spend time to fix it but me and this other guy are already busy with making some FMVs. Yea we shoulda waited for the entire game to be done in order to make em but we got too excited and decided to make the firt FMV, the elevator one. I guess you guys wont see it until I'm finished. I'm sure it wont be crap as I devote countless hours in making it. Wont be on par with FF7 but probably good enough for me to make money off of it. The only thing is that you will probably have to wait till 2004. :/

Sounds interesting, but I woun't bother to try to download it until we get a new PC. This one lags a lot and I can't even see what i type when I type it on the boards, I only see what I type like a minute afterwards.

https://bakaneko.com/rpgmaker2k3/ - for RPGMaker 2003 English, at least I believe so anyway... I always wanted to do somthing like this, but Alas, I know no Programming. Plus, I'd far rather be doing somthing with modern games, but if I'm ever going to make stories, i'll have to use somthing low tech. Like Paper ^_^
Please post back when there is somthing playable. In the meanwhile, could you please at least post screenshots? I'm intrigued!

lol, there has been an english version out all this time and I've been using the japanese one? Well, at least I feel happy I paid for it. That is why there isnt a commercial english version for RPG Maker 2003 because just about everyone had a pirated copy.
I'll post some screens later on once I'm finished with a city I'm working on.

It's cool, but some of your levels need work, they just look odd. You have the typical someone waking you up in a RPG down..The battles though, as soon as I walked out I had to fight a battle against 8 baddies. In my first battle! And then I had to fight a huge dragon and two evil looking women. You gotta make the first battles of the game much easier

Woah.. it worked without you getting my chipsets? I guess they resetted some things to the default...
The battles aren't really that hard. The demo takes place well into the game, where you should have a good idea about how to use the majic. Once you know how those battles are easy. I'll fine tweak the battles if I get more negative opinions about the battles. About the levels, I see what you're sayign by how they look odd.. so what I did was totally change the chipsets, facesets, and sprites of the game. Now the people move more realistically and there's much more detail. Just about everything is handdrawn. I'll post some screens once things look more polished.

You can't download it now as I have to renew my domain name. I'll renew it once I figure out... how....
