I'm going to agree with Frozen on this being the sequel. I mean as was mentioned earlier the bad guys look the same, so I'm thinking it's still Revolver/Liquid's group of cronies just this time in the jungle. I may be wrong but the title is twin snakes and I can't really think of another man with the codename of snake that would be in the past.

I can't wait. The sencond one was a tad bit disapointing but still great and the first one was the bomb diggity.
I think that the screen shots we have seen are some sort of flashback. Maybe it's just a small part of the game but I still think it is set in the past. Basically for all the reasons given before. The weapons are outdated and there appears to be no codec. Though only in the pictures that he has no shirt on does he appear to look any younger. And not by that much any way. I think the fact that it is in a new setting should give it a little more flavor.

WOW them pics are simply amazing the deatail is shocking, I think this is pulling the ps2 to its limit, spectacular! thanks vic.
Good idea makg, you have pointed out some good thoughts, looks at vic's picture, 'new move' and look at the enemy in the background he's got a sotgun, can anyone identify that shotgun? Dosent look like a recent shotty to me. Could well be flashback, or in the past in Zanzibar.

Looke like I might actually have to play the first game before this third one. The game looks awesome and the lighting looks like it will affect gameplay maybe, like seeing a glare from the sun when facing certain way even more so than in SOL.

In case you were wondering, Snake Eater was the name given to Green Beret members in Vietnam, so I think it might have something to do with playing a young Big Boss when he served in Vietnam, as he and Snake would look the same.

What do you think Big Boss's codename will be? I Doubt it's gonna be Big Boss as I'd imagine that would be his alias when he took over Outer Heaven.
Maybe he'll be called Snake 0_o |

Holy sh*t, those pics look amazing! All the detail nearly made me faint. Thanks Makg and Vic for providing some pics. ^_^
I have nothing else to say because everyone already came up with pretty good theories on story, which I agree would be nice (playing a prequel) but I would prefer to have a sequel to MGS2.

the Zanzibar theory is a decent one, but there is too much mention of the Cold War and the 60's to convince me that this is Zanzibar. However, with this engine and it's jungle environment (which looks fairly nice as well) I'd think that Kojima is seriously considering doing an early Metal Gear remake, especially if MGS3 gets some critical acclaim...

Yes, it appears it is the Cold War, check out this link, click the picture on the site, notice how the first picture is all Jungle, with planes, the Russian hammer and sickle and the peace symbol... https://www.konamijpn.com/products/mg...ese/index.html
One of those titles say Cold War, and you can see lots of information about those time periods but moving along the tabs. They mention the Cold War, Russia and Vietnam. Section 1963 mentions the Nuclear Race and Space Race - Both US and Russian... Semipalatinsk is mentioned, which was a Russian Nuclear test site from 1950s to 1990....there again the 1960s link between the times, again Operation Nougat and Operation Dominic are mentioned, both US and Soviet Russian Nuclear testing programs in 1961 - 1962. Also mentions Tonkin Bay! Strangely enough, Hideo Kojima was born at the end of 1963...this may explain the 60s plot? Check out the site, as you can see i did some research on the titles mentioned...maybe it has nothing to do with it, but it appears to link MGS3 to Russia, the Cold War, Vietnam, Space and Nuclear bombs... Check out this i just noticed under each section, i never scrolled down far enough...this just about prooves it is 1960s https://www.konamijpn.com/products/mg...961_word01.gif https://www.konamijpn.com/products/mg...962_word01.gif https://www.konamijpn.com/products/mg...963_word01.gif https://www.konamijpn.com/products/mg...964_word01.gif Whats survival of the Snakest refer to? Being stealthy, or maybe they mean theres more than one out there in MGS3 like you...maybe the big enemy...?

At some point, they even talk about the "Battle of the Reptiles"...
Meaning there might be another 'reptile' aside from the Snake ? |

Definately, it all seems to piece together. I downloaded the 31mb trailer while i was in bed lastnight, and after watching it, im amazed. It is definately 1960s, we should be getting more information about it soon, i did not notice this stuff on the website before...so maybe they will keep updating, and giving away more information...
Another thing, the music is amazing...i was watching it an not only thinking this video is fantastic, but also was thinking wow, the music really kicks ass *cant wait for more*

Secret Weapon Revealed?
https://www.dengekionline.com/news/20...2_10_mgs31.jpg
This is pamphlet given out during E3. https://www.dengekionline.com/news/20...2_10_mgs32.jpg Inside the pamphlet, there is shape for paper figure. Hideo Kojima had said that it is a figure for Metal Gear Rex, but he also mentioned that there will be parts left over to reveal a secret weapon for Metal Gear Solid 3. https://www.dengekionline.com/news/20...22_10_mgs3.jpg Dengeki Online has assembled the left-over part and made it into the figure above: caterpillars in the bottom and a missile (nuke?) on top.

Cool, got bigger pics? If you go to Ebay, and search for Metal Gear Solid 3, people have good pictures on there...mind you i dont think i would pay for something that i think was free at E3.
Us guys at this site are pretty sharp, i was looking around for information on the internet, and some websites/forums still beleive the videos are fake, and one site reckons somebody hacked the MGS2 code and switched the skins, and enviroment around...lmao
