Am I loosing my fear?
Well, i know i mighta posted my fear of insects in the PHOBIAS page....but, i got something to say about this.
Lately, i've been killing lots of bugs...from flies, to Spiders, to really ugly butterflies...but this is the catch. It has been hurting me after i've killed those following insects...it has been kinda like a sin of some sort. I dont know, it just hurts a bit. I think im loosing my fear of bugs that dont necesserally do anything to you...i mean i still would kill bees if i was forced to...because it is a bug that hurts when it does what it does...same applies with mosquitoes. Im still scared of all the insects i was scared of before up to this day.... ...but when i kill a bug that hasnt done anything to me it kinda hurts...me. Has this happened to anyone before? or do people here think im crazy. |

well, in my opinion, i think it is just that you are starting to become more considerate to animals. i dont have any problem with killing bugs that i think are damaging, like bees, mosquitos, or anything that lives in my house. I think spiders are bewneficial animals, but there is a nest of em in my bathroom, and when one drops on me when im taking a shower, i have absolutely no problem with killing it. if you are still afraid of the bugs that bothered you bfore, i dont think it has anything to do with your phobia... i think it is just a bad case of conscience.

You shouldn't make differences among one insect and the other. Killing something should always be perceived as "negative" even if you say "But the bee could hurt me!". Yes, the bee could hurt you, but this doesn't mean it will necessarily hurt you. If you feel the sense of guilt, you shouldn't feel it only towards insects you consider to be annoying for you. At least I think so

I'll kill bugs that will endanger my life if I don't. I think taking a life (even a bug's) just to avoid my own pain or disgust is wrong just because it's what I believe.
The only insect that really needs to be killed around where I live are mosquitos because of the West Nile virus that they're spreading all over - can cause paralysis and death. - - - Nasty. |

I just see bugs along the line of other animals, i wouldnt kill a cat if it came in my house, id just shoo it out, but it kind of hard to shoo out a spider that is on your back when you have shampoo in your eyes, or to shoo out the blaack wasps that live in my attic cuz they actually attack humans with no provocation whatsoever, and can sting you between 5-8 times at once. Also, mosquitos are'nt really bothering me from the west nile thing, but they are creatures that live off of sucking other creatures blood. that is also why i dont like leeches. there are so many mosquitos around, and the only ones that bite you are the females that are getting ready to spit out another 50 mosquitos that could bite you as well. i think that this is just a consideration of controlling the numbers. im not excluding humans either. personally, i would kill off a lot of the people that are just inconsiderate bastards, or those that will not do anything with their lives. we shouldn't have 6 billion people in the world, or else we will be using up natural resources faster than they can replenish. we are already destroying the earth, and i think that cutting down on the number of humans in the world would be for the best. and as for anyone who would ask "what about your friends and family, would you cut them out too?" and to this i reply, yes. if they were detrimental to society as a whole, i think that they could be considered as well.

You shouldn't worry about killing bugs so much. I mean, there are many other (endangered or not) animals, that you're killing everyday without knowing it just because for example you buy or use a certain type of products (soap, meds, make-up, clothes, accessories etc...). If you have to worry, you have to worry for anything you do. If you're not made for this kind of worries, just feeling guilty for a couple of mosquitoes is completely meaningless.

Guess.. i think its true about the mosquito thing. They are the ones that cant be felt sorry to kill.
I've killed 2 already...but it wont make much of a difference. Thinking about the animals is also hurting, i mean it kinda hurts to think about them (i aint vegeterian though). But...i guess...we are humans and what we do is what we do...i know you have heard the sentence before but i dont know how to end this post: "We humans are selfish and uncaring about what surrounds us" |
