The rumors going around about Square remaking the first two games in the series were indeed, true.

They will be re-released onto the PlayStation this fall. They will be released separately and at about 3800 Yen ($32.61 U.S.) each. There will also be a special edition package on sale, including both games, a few action figures and an art book. The total package will cost 8800 Yen ($75.53 U.S.). The games themselves, will have enhanced graphics compared to the original versions. New movies that we've grown accustomed to will also be added into the beginning and end of the game. Any enhancements (such as dash) included in the WonderSwan releases will be kept when producing these two classics

The Japan re-release date has been set for Final Fantasy I and II. It will be re-released there on October 31st. The Premium package will also be available. It will include 3 action figures per game. No re-release date has been set for North America or the rest of the world.

uhm... this was a rumor? I seem to remember it as only ever being a fact (well it was in Famitsu 3 weeks ago right?)

I'll be intrigued to see whether the enhanced graphics aren't actually the same as the Wonderswan ones... The Playstation conversions don't exactly have a good reputation for putting in decent features... Lets hope they don't release them with crappy saving or menu perfomance.

Also, does anyone else think that these games would be far better on the GBA? ... I for one think that these games may never make it to the US or Europe if they're on the PSOne...
