Uhhhhh, the PS2 uses a custom made processor running at 294.912 MHz (so no Pentium's there). The XBox uses an Intel Pentium 3 running at 733Mhz.
PS2 has a custom built graphics chip that runs at 147.456MHz, whereas the XBox has a butchered version of an Nvdia GeForce 3 that runs at 233 MHz.
Now while the XBox specs are significantly higher, it should be noted that the PS2 chips are designed specifically for PS2 - XBox consists of off-the-shelf parts and thus the true potential of XBox cannot be realised.
The XBox also has superior graphics memory, polygon fill counts, texture rates and so on - which is why XBox is graphically superior.
However, considering that I don't see
that great a difference between PS2 and XBox graphics - imagine how amazing the PS2 could have looked if it had its own custom hardware running at the same spec as XBox.... Food for thought no?
