The Kenshin movie is just a separate story that has nothing to do with the TV series or OVA. It's been a long time since I've seen it, so I don't remember too much of what the plot was.

I believe a man from Kenshin's past came back to take revenge(?) or something like that. Someone else might be able to help you out.
