Hmmm... Ok... here's some suggestion:

Honey & Clover: more mature than most romantic anime, but with some crazy stuff in it. It's really good speaking of animation, but it's even better speaking of analysis and characterization. It's also a very entertaining series, I must say. It gets some time to get used to it though.

Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien: well... it's the kind of series which makes you ask questions about finding yourself in certain situations. Not one of my fave things, but if you like anime that are all about tragic romance and love triangles, it could be good for you.

Aishiteruze Baby: it's cute. But not in a silly or completely pointless way. It's about "love" according to a wider meaning of the term: love for the self, for the family, for a person of the opposite sex... It's about many ways of expressing love and respect.

Midori No Hibi: not sure about this one. Sure it's sweet and weird at the same time. I think it's more classic than other series, even if the way events are unfolded is very bizarre.

I'm so tired... maybe I'll post more later... now I can't even think

PS: but... you meant to post recommendations for shoujo series or for romance only series? I posted following the second option... if you want to have suggestions for shoujo in general I'll post some other title as well, since not all shoujo are about only about romance.
