Sony Computer Entertainment said Thursday that it had record holiday season sales of its PS2 video game console thanks to an expanded global sales network and popular software titles. The company said it sold 8.5 million PS2 consoles from November to December in the global market - up 24 percent from the same period a year ago. It was the best sales result for the shopping season since the console's launch three years ago. It sold some 4 million consoles in North America - up 42 percent.
