Love Hina or Real Bout High School. I also LOVE Great Teacher Onizuka but I think that's manga.

Like meryl said, these types of questions are hard to answer for the single notion that there are so many good anime to choose from.
But if I had to pick one, then I would, without a doubt, go with Now and Then, Here and There. This anime is absolutely fantastic! This anime truly exploits all the benefits of a thirteen-episode format. It is absolutely a phenomenal story that does not beat around the bush. It is abosolutely beautiful how this anime operates on the single most important and vivid plane: the mind. This anime completely rewards its viwers with thought provoking drama and revelations of the horrors of war. Just like Owen's Dulce et Decorum Est poems says: there is truly no beauty in war and if anyone really experienced it first hand, then they would have to think themselves twice in order to be able to say that is fitting to die for his country. This anime, I believe, parallels that poem very well, even though they bear no direct relation. This anime begins with what was a seemingly traditional high school drama: a stubborn male trying to save a pretty young girl. But this beginning quickly comes to an end, as to the story immediately goes into overdrive and does not slow down until the rolling credits of the final episode. I was truly moved by all of the characters. As each and everyone of them shared their story, I was deeply enthralled and entranced, for each story seemed much too real to be not be. Everything from the very essential characters and story, to the more minor (for me), music and coloring were just about as close to perfect as an anime can get. Everything in this anime truly fitting with each other. The characters, which were quite "bright" on the outside, bore a heavy burden on the inside; the crazy antagonist, Hamdo, that makes even Escaflowne's Dilandeau appear rational, plays his role out in a supperb fashion; the musical scores, though soft in general, accompanied the anime extremely well; the direction, lighting and shadows provided a generaly gloomy atmosphere, which was more that fitting. All of these combined to make a truly fascinating story jam-packed with moral issues. They all made what Now and Then, Here and There is: A anime that encompases others. ... Wait... why did I just write a mini review? :laugh: Woops! Sorry! But uhm, yeah... my fav. anime is most definitely Now and Then, Here and There. :) |
