Shenmue 3: Confirmed!!

That's right, Sega is planning on continuing the story of Shenmue, after fans have been begging Sega-AM2 to develop the third instalment of the epic adventure.

This news comes just days after I brought you news of the petition from Shenmue Dojo, which I'm sure also had a massive bearing on the decission made by Sega, not to mention all the fan emails they've received.

At the beginning of the year Sega had mentioned that they were not sure what direction the Shenmue series would take. There had been speculation that Sega-AM2 would actually just release a DVD movie to continue and finalize the Shenmue story for the fans. That option has been put on the back burner.

Today it was announced that Sega-AM2 is developing a third instalment in the Shenmue series. Although no details regarding the storyline, platform or release date have been announced, the game is said to be in development. Sega has stated that they will reveal more details regarding this game in September. This news has appeared on a number of video games news outlet websites, I've e-mailed my contacts at Sega Europe and America to see if they can confirm the authenticity of the above story, I’ll have more for you soon or in September I guess.

Oh yeah! Im a huge shenmue fan and ever since that cliffhanger ending of shenmue 2 I wanted to play shenmue 3 badly.

Its all down to the fans at the end of the day, if it was'nt for them, I doubt there would of ever beeen a shenmue 3, a petition online got '19114 Signatures ' and fans begging with emails, nice one Yu Suzuki for enteraining your fans support!

I have to beat Shenmue 2 still....but I think the first 2 were great. A tad bit boring in some places but still solid titles.

Damn XBox, I'd think about getting it if I had one probably. Even if I did I still haven't played 1 and 2, Budokai better not end up on XBox.

Its not going multiplatform, im sure its not, well if it does thats good news.

Hmmm, including a box set is so good news to me, I have not had the chance to play shenmue 1 and only a bit of shenmue 2. sweet news.

Lol, I heard it was a a Japenese fan letter translated wrongly, this hurts bad, I didnt say out hear, everybody would be upset, c'mon sega confirm it!

Get an XBOX guys..... seriously. Save some money and get it. Its LIVE feature is worth getting it alone. And I am pretty sure Shenmue III on Xbox will have "LIVE Downloadable Content" Feature. :D
