Well judging by the article atleast they tried. Japan exclusive games, more japanese developers etc.

During the PS3 keynote it was said that all systems will now have the HDMI port (although this can't be confirmed for sure and may only be in Japan), and that the Price for the PS3 in Japan is under 50,000 yen for the 20gig model that includes HDMI (and taxes). Thats about $500Cdn, $435 US.

Thats a little bit cheeper thats for sure, whether its true or not we will wait and see, and if its a global or japan thing its hard to know.

But let me say this right now, in Canada, the xbox is $500 without the newly documented HD-DVD drive but does come with a game. The prices are looking a lot more simular if this is to be true.

White Knight Story (http://www.level5.co.jp/products/shirokishi/index.html) from Level 5 is the second most impressive thing they show at TGS.

Yes, these are all official news. There was a news posted on the website about it too, based on Sony's official press release.

The reports comming out of Japan is that the price drop for PS3 across the ocean is pretty much a guarantee. There has been nothing announced but it seems at this point it's almost a given. The best thing i read basically said "Sony has never sold their playstation platforms at such a huge discount in price compaired to North America, all arrows point toward a price drop world wide."

It would be great if this was the case. It would be hard to argue with "its way to much money". Still lots, but after the Xbox release of HD-DVD the prices are very similar. Although Wii, still wins price wise.

My post was a link :P

My guess is that Sony will price drop in the new-year. Milk those Christmas buyers in the region where they are shipping the most consoles.

I saw a dutch gaming show do a report from the TGS, I must say I'm very VERY impressed by Fatal Inertia(???), supposedly in-game footage(or at least running on the in-game engine) of MGS4 and the jawdropping looks of ridge racer running at 1028 HDTV.
