I like the shirt. I wouldn't want to see him in the same threads as GTA3. It fits the "Miami" theme to the game. The jeans look good too. Nice stiches.

That's one of the things about GTA that I like. You are a nameless, unimportant thug that has to work his way up in the crime world. I think his design is great......he's just an average scumbag in Vice City.

Rockstar revealed information on GTA Vice City today. The game is the follow-up to GTA3, which is one of the best games all-time. So Rockstar can only improve right? No doubt about it. Ok on to the GTA Vice City information youv'e been dieing for.

The game is set in the 1980's and will feature over 10 hours of licensed music from the decade. Also on the radio stations the DJ's will be full of 1980's slang. The main character will be voiced by Ray Liotta, the star of the movie Goodfella's. The game has 40 weapons for you to destruct the city with, which is 25 more than GTA3. There will be 120 vehicles to tear the town up with, which is 70 more than GTA3's 50. There will also be more indoor enviroments this time around including casinos, discos, and hotels. You can explore all them fully.

The game engine is getting heavily tweaked, Rockstar promises to reduce the amount slowdown from GTA3. They will also greatly increase the particle effects in the game. Rockstar seems to have another great game on the way.

Nice pics, man. While I like the main character's clothes and all (it fits well with the Miami setting, like Sleazy said) I kinda like the dude in GTAIII...I dunno, maybe 'cause he's got that "gangster" look with the leather jacket and all. GTA: Vice City seems too bright for me...I prefer the grime and darkness of GTAIII...but hell, I'm still excited about Vice City, so thanks for the pics king_freak and the info, Kabuki. :)

Yeah, the flashy 80's look..but i think that would be easy to get over as soon as you notice all of the improvements from GTA3, like aiming..eeh, that was a big hassle at some points, especially with the damn columbians always being in a crowd of people when they would open fire on you..ahh, but i am really looking forward to this, heck, any GTA installment. Xbox can suck it till 2004 :D

===============

"As any Tomb Raider historian will tell you the sequels that follow a hit game aren't always known for their continued innovation. With that in mind, last year's groundbreaking Grand Theft Auto 3 wasn't just a hit. It was a record-breaking runaway smash. It is the most successful PS2 game ever in both the US and Europe. It has sold over six million units so far and it hasn't even been released in Japan yet.

So when Rockstar invited us to take an exclusive look at the follow-up to Grand Theft Auto 3 we wouldn't have been surprised if it was basically the same game with a few tweaks. It isn't.

Two minutes after walking into the room our jaws hit the floor and stayed there. Welcome to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the latest chapter of Rockstar's carjacking crime wave. It has the same control scheme as GTA3 but literally every other aspect of the earlier game has been deconstructed, overhauled, amped up and reinstalled bigger and deeper than before. Not only is Grand Theft Auto: Vice City going to be every bit as good as GTA3, it's going to blow it off the road.

It's amazing just how much developer Rockstar North (don't worry, it's still the DMA guys, they just changed the name) has managed to accomplish in a single year. It starts with Vice City itself: a glamorous (yet undeniably corrupt), slightly twisted version of Miami in the mid-1980's, complete with ridiculous amounts of pastel clothes, palm trees, sports cars and neon lighting. It's between two and two and a half times as large as Liberty City was, and the entire map is open from the moment you start the game. No more waiting for bridges to be repaired. Moreover it will boast a much greater geographical diversity, with terrain ranging from downtown areas jammed with towering skyscrapers to neon lit boulevards and run-down slums. Not to mention swampland, the ocean and a whole network of streams and rivers...

But what fans really wanted was to be able to go inside the various buildings in Vice City. Their prayers have been answered. There will be at least 50 interior locations including a bank, shopping mall, coffee shop (good for hiding out in) and night clubs packed with dancing and an airport jammed with ticket counters and customers. Most of these places will be interactive as well. For instance: at one point in our demo the main character went into a store and swapped his hawaiin shirt and jeans for a bright blue suit. And be sure to visit the remodeled and expanded Ammu-nation where we're told you can do the 'naughty' things you've always wanted to do (hel-lo gun store robbery)...

Rockstar has also addressed the other burning desire that GTA3 players had: the urge to drive on two wheels instead of 4. Yes easyrider, there are motorcycles in the game. Quite a few in fact, from Harley Davidson look-a-likes to sporty crotch rockets. There are also tons of new boats to drive around in various water ways including a coast guard cutter, a gigantic luxury sailboat and several flavors of speedboat. Dodo fans will be glad to hear that there are legitimately navigatable aircraft in the game now including a MASH type chopper and a small Cessna-like plane called a Skimmer that has pontoons enabling it to land on water. Of course, there are new cars and trucks as well, many inspired by the popular sports cars of the 80's.

Overall the number of jackable, drivable vehicles will top out over 100 more than twice as thick as GTA3's 40 vehicle roster. But more exciting than the numbers is the way that these new vehicles will help to expand gameplay. For example: you can not only do drive-byes from a motorcycle but you can shoot directly in front of you while riding one. Something that was simply impossible before. Also, Rockstar has promised that some of yur weapons will be usable from THE CHOPPER. Imagine sniping a target from 100 yards straight up or loading a plane full of explosives so you can bomb a boat right out of the bay. There is also more realism than before, you can now bail out of a moving vehicle and most vehicle's tires can be shot out, making them more difficult to control. Is there any doubt the police will eventually pull out road spike strips to try to take you down?

They'll need all of the help they can get too, because you'll definitely be packing serious heat. GTA3's 15 weapon arsenal has now grown to include over 40 entrees. These range from a basic knife to a powerful six-shooter that resembles a Colt python and on to a more destructive fare. Plus using them will be easier than ever thanks to an improved targeting system who's "reticule" will change color to tell you if your target is armed or not. You can now kneel to steady and improve your accuracy and even if that fails for you it's never too late to fall back onto what Rockstar describes as a 'cleaner smother' hand-to-hand combat system that promises more variety in punches and kicks.

So many new gameplay elements are being installed that it just makes sense that Rockstar is promising that the missions will be both more numerous and far more diverse than ever before. There will be at least 100 mission this time (up from GTA3's 74) and possibly as many as 140. "We keep cramming them in" says Dan Houser, Rockstar's VP of creativity. Moreover, the missions seem to be longer and more sophisticated with highend production values, houser uses GTA3's Bomb Da base mission as an example, because it was one of the last missions installed in the game and was designed after the various development tools and game systems were up and running at full capacity. For those who preferred the extra assignments like the Ambulance (side note: Who in the hell actually enjoyed the Ambulance missions?) and Toyz in the Hood missions, don't worry, there will be more side missons and hidden secrets to find than ever before.

Misson complexity will also benefit from a greatly increased emphasis on storyline and plot development. VC is a production whose scale would send most Hollywood producers running home for mommy. Video games are now at a point where they are capable of doing things in terms of size, scale and involvement that are way beyond what movies are doing," explains Houser. "The average Hollywood script is about 200 pages. Ours would be about 2000." He's not exaggerating. GTA3 had about 3000 pedestrian comments alone. Roughly an hour and a half worth of dialogue. VC looks to clock in between 8000 and 9000 lines of pedestrian dialogue. It will also boast greater character and plot development with around 80 minutes worth of cut-scenes (GTA3 had roughly 30 min) to help push the story along. It might have even been more, had Rockstar North not worked very hard to integrate plot development into the missions themselves, not just before and after each one.

One of the most notable side effects of this greater emphasis on story-telling is that the main character actually has a name and a personality. He's Tommy Vercetti, a low level mobster voice-acted by veteran Ray Liotta, an expert in bringing intense psychotic characters to life. Tommy has been jailed for 15 years after a drug deal he was involved in went bad. He no sooner gets out thanthe "friend" for whom he did the job calls wanting reparations for all the money he lost. Time to go back to work.

Rockstar is keeping the storyline under wraps, but promises and open-ended plot that "Takes player from being screwed up to getting more screwed to finally figuring out what's going on; oddly the Rockstar rep we talked to referred to Tommy as the "first" character leading us to believe there are additional characters (Rockstar would neither confirm nor deny the possibility). Either way, Tommy seems well prepared to take on whatever Vice City has to offer.

Whether underaged gamers can handle it might be another story. One of the thigns that made GTA3 unique was its notoriously mature content. Will Vice City cross the line even further?

"Possibly," says Rockstar's CEO Terry Donovan, "but only if it fits the plot." He likens GTA3 to the first Friday the 13th movie, which blew away people with its gory intensity and points out how that four movies later when the human element and story had been discarded in favor of increasing levels of blood and guts the series became worthless. Granted VC's storyline probably won't read like an episode of Thomas the Tank Engine, but don't expect the game to push the envelope just for the sake of being extreme.

With so much time and effort devoted to generating new game content one might expect tech specs to have changed very little from last year's offering. Incredibly that's not the case. Rockstar North has somehow found time to completely dismantle and rebuild the entire game engine, with impressive results."

VC’s image quality is much sharper and clearer than in GTA3 and everything uses alot more polygoms. Also there's greater texture detail (the team learned to stream textures very late in GTA3's development) and new radiosity lighting system helps the neon light spill smoothly over everything. The environment seems more alive, from fish and waves in the bay to the way the sunlight glints off cars windshields as it drives by. There's even a cloth model that makes Tommy's jacket ripple in the wind when he rides a motorcycle.

It's a smarter world too, with NPCs who are far more intelligent than before. For example, pathfinding is greatly improved so gangs will walk in clusters now rather than in a parade like straight line. And for players who abused the way NPCs in GTA3 couldnt shoot over cars get ready to learn some new moves. Not only will they now fire away but they also might crouch behind a car themselves to present a smaller target.

The final important element of GTA3 was the wide selection of satirical (yet still remarkably legitimate sounding) radio stations that populated the airwaves. This is yet another area where Rockstar is blowing away it previous standard. GTA3 had around 3 hours of music and talk radio. VC will boast a staggering nine to ten hours, and believe it or not, it's all licensed music from the 80's. This adds a great authentic feel to the action (though we hope GTA3's commercials and talk radio stations will remain) and really helps establish the time frame in which the game will be taking place.

There is also some damn good music here, incuding tracks from A Flock of Seagulls, Michael Jackson, and Judas Priest. In fact the sound track will be relieased by a major record lable (most likely as a box set) though which one has accepted the task has yet to be revealed at press."

Ultimately the most impressive thing about GTA:VC is how enthusiastically ambitious it is. Rockstar actually looked at the most successful videogame of 2001 and decided to do it all over again with twice as much of everything. It helps that the team clearly loves its creation "I think GTA:VC is going to be the best video game of all time. I really believe that" offers Houser with humble conviction. Strong words but come October 22nd we guarantee that a good chunk of the millions of diehard GTA3 players out there will be saying the same thing."

---------------------------------------------------------------

Finally! We have finally, finally played it. We have sat down for a good long time and put our grubby paws on the undoubted heavyweight champion game of 2002, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, until the PR folks forced us out of the small, unfurnished San Francisco Rockstar offices. Ahhh? (Big sigh of relief.)

So? The big question still remains: Is it all that? After all of the thousands of words, dozens of movies and screenshots, and incredibly hype-laden things that have been said about GTA: Vice City, is the game really a bigger, better version of GTA3? Will it really be that good? Does it provide enough newness to make it worth the potential hassle of finding one?

The simple answer is the same as the long and complicated one: Yes. Unwaveringly, emphatically, unanimously, wide-eyed and giddy yes. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is the unequivocal tour de force of 2002, and it appears that the numerous additions, slight wrinkles and alterations in gameplay, graphics and sound ultimately come up aces. Aces, I tell you.

Presentation
The 90% complete build I played features pretty much everything that's going to be in the game, though not all was entirely available to me. I started playing in the early areas, but then was able to skip around to a complex mid-game level ("Guardian Angel"), enjoyed a taxi ride, a time-based mission, and an early delivery mission, too.

The first, most noticeable thing about Rockstar's massive, urban action-adventure game is the way it's presented. To look around, the third-person perspective camera automatically and loosely follows lead Tommy Vercetti; the character often turns to face the camera, which eventually returns to follow him, whether he's in a car, on a motorcycle, walking or running. By pressing R3, the camera now instantly switches into first-person mode, enabling players to look around in 360 degrees. Players can switch camera angles by pressing Select. With most games, these mundane details are usually tertiary, but with this game, nothing can be left unnoticed.

The in-game menu has improved to make traveling more convenient, more straightforward, and to enable bad drivers to find their way from one point in town to the next with greater ease. Press Start and a menu system appears, temporarily stopping the game. It provides an in-game menu, a statistics page (how many kills, cars crashed, arrests, etc.), Mission Briefing (the latest conversation you had with a significant person, a.k.a. from a person delivering a mission objective), an iconographic legend and other details, such as audio and visuals options. The audio options are fun on their own, since players can switch from one station to the next right there and listen in without playing the game.

The in-game menu is best, though, enabling players to see where they are on the map (indicated by a pink arrow) and where the mission point starts, indicated by another icon. Significant additions also include icons notifying players of Ammu-Nation stores, your home, and significant places to go. By using the R1 players can zoom close to the map and by pressing R2, they can zoom out to see the entirety of Vice City, which, by the way, looks like two giant thumb-shaped islands surrounding a few smaller islands harbored inside them. They're generally shaped like two symmetrically facing states of California.

Tommy's home is also far more elaborate than the little hovel given in Grand Theft Auto III. Tommy enters the Oceanside Hotel, and after a short, three to five-second cutscene, they can save their game at the front desk, using the tape recorder icon, or walk upstairs to the rather large, stagger-stair apartment room, from where Tommy can see the busy life of Vice City from his window. Entering and exiting buildings isn't seamless, but it's hardly noticeable. Tommy walks in a building, a quick load occurs, and he's in; same when he leaves. It's better than a lot of games I've played.

Mad, Styling Driving
As soon as I wrapped my hands around the PlayStation 2 controls, I commenced by performing personal driving tests. I checked how the cars handle, using a discerning eye to examine the brakes, drifts, speed, shocks, weight, and damage models. The cars are all enhanced, specifically in their weights, speeds and handling abilities. They're still arcade-style driving machines, and some are more noticeably change than others. Like for instance, the Cuban gang car is heavier than the Mexican gang car in GTA3. It's designed to resemble a 1940s or 1950s Buick and it moves like a fricking boat! It's slow to respond and slow and fun to experiment with, just to see how badly it handles.

Infernal Mass
Oct 20th, 2002, 09:50 PM
The litany of vehicles from the previous game has grown in GTA: Vice City, with new additions that makes driving exceptionally fun to handle for serious, efficient missions, or for simply tooling around like a drunken monkey. The cars I drove included the taxi, cop car, Cuban gang car, Phoenix (a Trans Am lookalike), Cheetah, Infernus, Station wagon, '80s SUV (a Suburban lookalike), Stallion, Idaho, Stinger, the Comet (a convertible Porsche lookalike), and the loveable Banshee (which looks like a Corvette). The Banshee, Infernus and Cheetah are still all very fast and they handle with exceptional tight braking and ridiculous acceleration speeds. But they might all be topped by the new Comet, a slightly boxy looking Porsche Carrera, which has unmatched cornering skills and moves with lighting fast speeds.

The best driving experience, however, is perhaps best found on two wheels. The motorcycle driving experience is worth the game on its own, and there are several kinds, providing gamers with a well-rounded variety of driving sensations. The burning fast street cycle -- which was shown in the earliest GTA Vice City shots -- is accompanied by the slower meatier chopper; and now I have ridden a Vespa-like scooter, and a two-stroke dirt bike! The street bike accelerates well and it makes for some incredibly excellent 180-degree powerslides. It's designed to hit top speeds quickly, and one of the missions I played was a "collect-the-icons" mission, that takes place along rooftops and includes numerous jumps and ramps, of course, under a timer.

The chopper provides a slower ride, with a louder sound, and it rumbles like a heavy piece of machinery, giving you a feeling of unrivaled macho power. This should be real fun to play with when the chopper gangs come into play later in the game. It takes wider turns and provides gamers with different animations, too, such as Tommy sticking out his leg during a turn (where, on the street bike, he leans into it). Funnily enough, The Vespa is surprisingly good fun. It's quick, but obviously slower than the other bikes. It's incredibly easy to maneuver, and performing 180 power-slides and quick, tight turns, required for slicing through traffic, for instance, are easy and fun. It's excellent to use to slalom through traffic. The two-stroke dirt bikes are weak in comparison to the other bikes, giving off a loud, whining sound, and providing little power. They too are easy to handle, especially on grass, dirt, and the beach. Nonetheless, they are quite novel and provide easy escapes.

As Rockstar said in an earlier IGN feature, GTA: Vice City features an assortment of excellent "Insane Stunt Jumps" (now there's "Unique Stunt Jumps") and many of them are designed entirely for bikes. Like the mini-mission I took -- the mission on rooftops and through narrow alleys -- it can only be performed by a fast, two-wheeled vehicle. One important thing I learned is that becoming involved in a massive, three-star chase with angry, aggressive cops is no place for a motorcycle rider. Since the cop AI is stepped up from GTA3, as soon as the fuzz smashes into your bike -- no matter which one you pick -- you go flying, and both you and the bikes take damage. Still, if you have mapped out the area, and know where the jumps lie, then escaping from the cops can be a spectacular calculated risk (or failure).

What's exceptionally cool about the bikes is that players can pull off stunts with them. By simply accelerating fast, and pulling back up the Dpad or left analog stick, players can pull off wheelies and can keep them going as long as they can control them. To help facilitate this move, the R2 or L2 buttons give a side view. The bikes can also do endos, too, meaning they can stop suddenly to perform nose wheelies. By pressing Square (brake) R1 and up on the left analog they can perform these nice little added tricks. I suspect there are some missions or Insane Stunt Jumps hidden in Vice City requiring wheelies or endos. Also, one last thing, during any kind of jump, players can adjust the tilt of their bikes back or forth to adjust to the upcoming surface. The bikes bounce when they land, showing just how nice the new shocks work.

The boats weren't so much of a surprise. They function very much like boats in GTA3. Naturally, I didn't get to skipper all of the boats, but I was able to pilot a catamaran and I did get to boatjack another boat! It was cool! You pull up next to another boat, getting parallel with it. You press Triangle to free up from the wheel, and then position yourself to ump onto the boat. Press triangle again, and you chuck the other person from the wheel. In this particular case, the woman boater did a surprisingly funny thing: She ran off the boat! She simply ran off and kept running into the water. Weird! Perhaps that's not what will happen in the game, but I suspect something similar will happen. Because after all, what else are they going to do? Also, for the record, Tommy can't swim. HE CANNOT SWIM. If he falls into the water, he dies. So, you can now stop sending in all those emails with that question.

Although I have written about it before, bailing from cars and bikes is a kick, and well worth examining. It's exactly like it sounds: You press Triangle and than bail (it takes about one to maybe two seconds to initiate) from the vehicle. This kind of thing comes in real handy when you're about to jump from one side of the island and you don't have enough speed to make it. Right before the jump you can simply bail letting the vehicle careen into the water.

Similarly, you can bail from a bike. I was surprised at how little damage the bike and I took. I bailed four or five times from a bike before the engine even started smoking. (I suppose that reaching even higher speeds would cause more damage, but I didn't see it.) The bikes wobble off in the distance and then fall over, and if they're not destroyed, just walk up and drive them again.

Bailng is also very handy when you're being chased in a slow car. When a nice Cheetah comes your way, just bail a good ways in front of it and grab it. There is no noticeable physical damage that Tommy takes, though points are taken off your health score. And if you are driving with a passenger and bail, both you and the passenger ae injured as a result of bailing.

Open Design
Designed similarly to Grand Theft Auto III, GTA: Vice City is actually more open in design than its brethren. With about 100 missions in the game, 80 of them being important to progress the game forward, players can move through its entirety with more freedom than last year's title.

Instead of having to finish all of the missions on a particular island and then progress to the next one, via fixed bridges and such, players might finish like the 10th or 15th mission and receive a new mission briefing that takes place on another island, previously not open. So, the opening of islands is more subtle in this game than before, and it occcurs earlier as well. The result is you can actually see all of the islands (two large and a few small ones) earlier than before, creating a bigger landscape earlier, with the additional need to return to previous missions not completed.

Also, the entire map of Vice City appears on the in-game map right from the start. But don't be mistaken, while it does open up earlier than in GTA3, the entire set of islands is not open at first.

"Guns? We Don't Need No Stinking Guns!"
Like I said earlier, the camera follows players from the third-person perspective, and loosely wraps around Tommy depending on the situation. When a weapon is pulled and players press R1, the bolder, heavier reticule appears, targeting the primary enemy. Using a priority system, Tommy instantly targets the most powerful enemy first (the reticule aims at their chest), and the camera swings around smoothly to follow the action. It's a big improvement over last year's model.

Rockstar has said there will be more than 30 weapons in the game, as most people already know, there is a weapon classification system, which helps organize them better for the player. I used the handgun, AK 47, Shotgun, and Billy Club. There is a lot more to tell on this front, but apparently that's for another time.

Mission: Guardian Angel
In the mission I played, Guardian Angel, Tommy has been duped and needs to get his money back. So he heads off to work for Colonel Cortez, who involves Tommy in one of the more complex and new missions in GTA: Vice City. Cortez sends Tommy to Diaz, and he also meets up with his sometimes partner, Lance. Tommy meets Lance in a car parking lot, picks up an AK47 and together they meet up with Diaz in a parking lot. The setup goes like this, Diaz and his chumps are supposed to meet with the Cuban gang to exchange goods, but Diaz suspects a set-up. Lance and Tommy are there to keep things under control, only they're hidden, perched in close-by buildings to get a good view on things.

Naturally, the scene goes haywire, and Tommy and Lance find wave after wave of Cubans cars filled with gunmen appearing to attempt the slaughter of Diaz and his henchmen. When they arrive, you shoot them, in a classic "protect"-style mission. After the last wave arrives (assuming you have kept Diaz alive), you walk down to pick up the briefcase left lying on the ground. As soon as you do, surprisingly, two gunmen on dirt bikes appear from nowhere and pick up the case! Crap! You have to get them! If you're a good shot, you might nail them both, or at the very least, one. If you nail just one, it's time to ride! Tommy runs down the stairs, jumps on the bike and chases after the thief. With one finger on X (accelerate) and one on Circle (Shoot), Tommy can ride and shoot forward at the briefcase thief from his bike. It takes about five seconds to get it right, and you basically have to keep the Circle pressed down for rapid gunfire. Needless to say, it's an excellent level, very surprising, and layered with parts.

Graphics: Rain and Shine
What can I say? The game looks great. With more polygons in the city, better textures on bikes, cars and characters, and almost no pop-in, the game looks far more technically accomplished than before. The build we played was 90% complete, and while some collision detection and some minor glitches were hither and yonder, the game is still an artistic and technical improvement over last year's effort.

On a first-hand basis, GTA: Vice City looks just like the screenshots we have seen. The city is bright and sunny, with a keen delivery of Radiosity, keeping items glimmering and shiny: Cars, boats, buildings, and anything metal or glass. At night, the moon is full and huge, with stars shimmering in the dark blue sky. Rockstar reported that Tommy will have more than just the two outfits we have seen (the Hawaiian deal and the suit), in fact, he'll have several. And, just like in GTA3, rain comes pouring down, only this time it looks more realistic and it provides an excellent set of enhanced physics for drivers. And every character has an exceptional level of animations to enhance their believability. Also, it's hard not to notice the giant 747-like planes flying in the sky, with plumes of white streaking behind them. You think Rockstar is hinting at something?

Vice City AI
The denizens of Vice City behave much like they did in GTA3, only now, they're more complex. They walk down the street, talk to you if you bump into them, and behave with various degrees of intelligence, aggressiveness or shyness. Now they talk to each other, they interact with each other, and strange things happen in the street. The citizens do more random things this time around. I witnessed a cop chasing some guy down the street; rollerskater girls bumping into other people; random car wrecks on the street that I did not cause, and dead people lying around, apparently killed in gang-related shootings.

I witnessed first hand a more aggressive police team. If you are anywhere near a policeman and you pull out a weapon, he instantly aims and shoots at you, whereas in the GTA3 they didn't react until you shot. Try walking into the police station (yes, you can walk right into all sorts of buildings, including the police station) to see what happens? That's a lot of fun (Instant death, but good fun, nonetheless).

And AI have a lot more to say to each other. In one "conversation" I heard a construction worked say about 12 different things to me. And STRANGE things, too. Reminding me a lot of Craig "Cranky" Harris in manner not looks, the hard-hat wearing, plum-shaped, scraggly-faced, cigarette-smoking worker said, "Raggh! Bad mood!" Later he followed with my first favorite line of the game, "Watch it! I got the death grip!" On a slightly related note, on the radio I heard another excellent line from a TV show commercial, "Two men battle via the beauty of dance for one robot's love." Apparently, a sci-fi show was being pimped. Nice though, right?

In the end
In the end, the crucial weaknesses of Grand Theft Auto III have been addressed and corrected in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and with a new bright look, entirely different scenario, lead character -- and actually an entirely new set of characters -- Rockstar's next major release is undoubtedly going to thrill people from the gameplay, the mission set-ups, and the phenomenally cool selection of music. There is no doubt in my mind that this year's model is going to be a smashing success, not to mention being one of the biggest, deepest, best games of the year.

heres some game over view.
The Getaway
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Developer: Studio Soho
Platform: PlayStation 2
Genre: Action
Origin: Euro
Release: December 2002

Here are some new images of SCEE's PS2 action / racing game The Getaway. The game takes you into the underbelly of today's London, filled with lowlifes, gangsters and scum. You play as Mark Hammond, who returned to the criminal underworld after his son is kidnapped by the gang boss Charlie Jolson. Mark is forced to accept the dirty works in exchange for his son's life. You can also play as an alternate character Frank Carter, who is a vigilante cop, sent to rescue Mark's son and take down the gangsters. The Getaway is scheduled to release in Europe in December, and January in US.
