am a new member, hi to all.
recently bought a pre-modified PS2 (SCPH 30006 R). have no problem playing games from anywhere without swapping, but playing DVDs is a different story.
i live in japan and pick up "copies" of DVDs whenever i go on vacation. dirt cheap and great quality. after several attempts opening and closing the drive, they'll play. if i try to play it again later, have to go throught the same routine ... sometimes getting lucky, sometimes giving up at 5 minutes or so. anyway, not a good situation. don't think it's because they're copies, because i have the same problems with regular DVDs (from any zone, including the PS2's default zone). also, already have driver 2.12G installed, so pretty sure that's not it.
any suggestions?
is it something as simple as getting the new DVD code card (http://www.ps2modchip.com/search.php?page=ps5) or DVD Region X (http://www.ps2modchip.com/search.php?page=dvdx)?
if that's the case, is one better than the other? does the new DVD code card allow you to straight out play the DVD or do you still have to swap discs?
thanks.
